An Unexpected Love

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner Part 1

Edward's POV

"Why do you love me?" I asked Natsu. I could see his face become... Fearful? But, I couldn't just let this question be bundled up inside me, until I can't handle it anymore and I break.

"Why are you asking me? Are you hoping to find some answer that will answer your internal questions, something to fill the void in your head with?"

"I'm asking... Because nobody has loved me like you do... And I don't see anything about me that you could possibly fall in love with... As a kid, I was the one that was left out of every game or party, I was the one that no body wanted to sit next to, I was the one everybody thought wouldn't get married or anything... I was the odd one out, because I was an orphan at an early age, and I grew up being gay. All the boys in my class wouldn't bother talking to me, because they thought that I'd get a crush on one of them. And the girls didn't want to talk to me because they saw me as... As a weirdo..." I start to cry, having revealed all of my secrets that I've only ever told Alphonse. God, what is wrong with me... I'm a grown man now with a job and a relationship and a home... I shouldn't be crying, but I am...

I faintly hear Natsu say, "c'mere." And he opens his arms wide, offering a hug to me. It takes me a few seconds, but I eventually go into his embrace and cry more. He has his right hand on the small of my back, and the other on my head, stroking my hair and kissing my head. "Shhh shhh there there... It's okay... I'm here... Hey, Ed, babe, I'm gonna be here for you. I'm glad you told me this... Do you know why?" I sniffle and say, "why?" "Because that means I know how to help you more. It means that I now know more about you. Hey, it's almost time to go to work. How about you go clean yourself up, then we can head out." He lets go of me, and I let go of him, "okay." "And Ed?" "Yeah?" I turn around from going to the bathroom, and I'm met with Natsu's lips. The kiss was identical to yesterday's: warm, and sweet. We pull away from each other, and smile before I go to wash my face of dried up tears.

How did I end up with such a loving man? I quietly laugh to myself before I dry my face, meet up with Natsu in the kitchen, and we head out to go to work.

The clock read 4:30, which meant the Natsu and I only had fifteen minutes left of our shift. After I check the time, I get back to writing my paper. I was just doing the fix ups that Roy wanted me to do, and I added a few things to make it sound more interesting. I keep typing and typing, being totally lost in my writing. Before I even know it, it's 4:45, and I'm done with my paper. I bring the paper over to Roy, and then I try to find Natsu.

Where the hell is he?? I figured that he'd be in his cubicle, or in the copy room... But he's not... I turn back to go to Roy's office, and ask him if he knows where Natsu might've run off to. "Ummm... I don't know Ed. Have you checked in his cubicle? The copy room?" I nod franticly, as I'm starting to panic at the fact that I don't know where my boyfriend is. Roy sighs before giving me a suggestion that, surprisingly, I haven't thought of, "have you tried the bathrooms? Just knock on the door and see if there's a response." "Okay... Thank you!" I say as I run out of the office door to find Natsu, and I faintly hear Roy say something but I couldn't quite tell what it was.

As I'm running in a panic state, I get a couple weird looks by some of my co-workers but I could care less at the moment. I get to the bathrooms, and I knock on the door as Roy recommended. There's a pause then I hear, "yes...?" "Natsu is that you?" I reply to the voice that sounds like Natsu. "Yeah, why?" "Oh thank God I found you... It's Ed, our shift ended. We can go now." "Oh! Okay, just give me a sec. You can get your stuff." "Okay." I take a few "calm down" breaths before I walk to my cubicle, and get my stuff.

My heart begins to pound at the thought of my afternoon plans, because it means that my boyfriend is going to be meeting my younger brother.

Oh God.

My heart is pounding a mile a minute, but I can DO this.

I see Natsu walking towards me with his stuff, which means we're ready to go. Ready to go to my house. Never thought I'd think or say that sentence but, here I am. "Alright, let's go." I hold his hand as we walk out of the building, and get into my car.

We get to my house and I open the door, and Natsu and I are greeted with the tantilizing scent of chicken and rice. "Hey Aaaall, I've got someone for you to meet~" I call out to my brother. "Brotherrrrr... I'm busy! Just get in, both of you gay unicorns."

Natsu and I share a look that almost says, the fuck? After giggling a little, we go inside to where the tall tasty scent is. Also known as the kitchen. Al has his usual pink apron on, and is humming "shape of you".

He turns his head to us, and he gets an instant smile. "BROTHER! You didn't tell me how cute he his! And what's your name?" I nudge Natsu and smile at him before he says, "uhh my name is Natsu. Natsu Dragneel." He puts his hand out to shake Al's hand, but he completely ignores it and hugs him. I expected Al to love Natsu, but this is way past my expectations.

"Well Natsu, make yourself at home. I'm just adding a few touches to the food, then dinner will be ready." "Okay Al. Ed, can you show me where to put my stuff down?" "Yeah sure babe." I say to Natsu. I glance at my brother, and he's wiggling his eyebrows at me. "Oooo~ things are spicy with you guys!" He gives me a wink then gets back to prepping dinner.

Dear God Al... You son of a bitch. A smile to myself, then go to show Natsu where to put his stuff.
