*Back at the garage

"How many times, Ratchet? How many!?" Grim was scolding me after what just happened. "Come on, he's fine. He landed in a pile of ivy." I responded. "Poison ivy." He murmured. "Look, you're a great mechanic, you've got a lot of heart but you're careless." Did he just say careless? "Careless, eh that's such an ugly word. I prefer carefree." I said with a smirk, but then he gave me a look. "Too soon?" I asked. "Yeah it was to soon." "I know things haven't been easy for you, but you can't keep acting out like this when I have a shop to run." He told me. "What's with you lately?" "I just feel like I'm supposed to do more, I've always dreamt of being a Galactic Ranger with Jewel. Doing big things with her, like Captain Qwark!" I responded, holding up my Captain Qwark card. "You want an old mechanic's advice?" He asked me. "Dream smaller; it leads to less disappointment." He said a bit sadly. "Please Grim, I just need one hour off so I can go to the spaceport for tryouts." I begged. "You promised you'd help me give proton scrubs to every ship on the plateau!" Oh shoot, I forgot about that! "It's almost summer. These people depend on us!" I thought of something fast. "First off, it's always summer. We live in a desert! And second, that promise is still in effect, it's a 100% valid promise, and you can redeem it in one hour." I said, hoping he would let me go. Then I smiled at him and he groaned in agreement. I knew he couldn't resist! "Yes! You! You are a great friend, almost as great as Jewel!" I yelled in excitement. "I'll be back before you know it!" I said as I got on my motorbike. "You're the best boss in the galaxy! An inspiration to us all! Don't ever change!" Then my motorbike jumped a few feet into the air and came down hard. "Ow! I'm ok!." I yelled, then I made my way to tryouts.

*At the show

Jewel' s p.o.v.

"The show's starting in a minute, are you ready Jewel?" Cora asked me. "Ready as I'll ever be, I just hope my friend is here." "He probably is, I bet he wouldn't want to miss this." Brax said. Then the announcer started speaking. "Well this is it, team. Are you ready?" Qwark asked us. "Oh yeah, let's do this!" We said. "Ladies and gentlemen, get on your feet and put your hands together, and give a big Planet Veldin welcome to your Galactic Rangers!" The announcer said. "Ok remember, I go first, then Jewel then Brax." Cora said to us. Then the platform we were standing on opened, and the audience cheered for us, and I saw Ratchet in the crowd. I hope I don't mess this up. "First up, she'll shoot first and ask questions when she's good and ready, Cora Veralux!"Then Cora jumped on to the stage, equipped two combusters, and shot then up in the air, making the Galactic Ranger symbol. Ok, now it's my turn. "Next, she's very pretty and nice, but get on her bad side, and you're in big trouble, Jewel Vaden!" Then I jumped over the symbol and landed perfectly on the stage, causing the audience to go crazy, and Ratchet to stare in amazement. After I landed I winked at Ratchet and he winked back and I chuckled. "You loved him in Grapplemania, you'll love him more as a Galactic Ranger. Get ready to feel the pain of Brax "The Brute" Lectrus!" Then Brax used his jetpack to fly into the symbol and the shots scattered. "Yeah, baby!" I heard him yell. "And finally, ladies and gentlemen, the savior of Solana, Captain Qwark!" Then Qwark jumped on to the stage and greeted the audience. "Hello, Veldin!" "Hello, Captain!" I heard Ratchet say in the audience. "He's on fire again." "I know." Cora and Brax said. "I've got this one guys." I said as I pulled out an extinguisher gun. "My name is Copernicus Qwark," He continued. "and yes, that was an impressive wall of fire I just walked past." When he said that I rolled my eyes, and sprayed the extinguisher gun on him, and walked back in annoyence. "I'm gonna be real with you folks for a moment. When President Phyronix recommended I take on a new ranger, I knew just where to go. That's right, we want you!" As he said that the audience cheered and I saw Ratchet jump in excitement. Then he continued, "The galaxy is a perilous place. Invasion, space pirates, supernovas!" The crowd gasped. "I know what you're thinking, "do I have what it takes?" After all, you may not have prevented Dr. Nefarious from atomizing Aleero City. You may not have stopped Neftin Prog from rendering the entire population of Aridia color-blind! Twice! After all you may not have this chiseled jaw or godlike pectoral region, but if have heart, then you have what it takes!"
