Chapter Two
{Terra's POV}
I must admit that I may have peed myself just a tiny bit. And their may have been a small log lurking out of my bum. This had never happened to me before, and if Chef don't judge, neither should you. I was terrified that I may leave this bank in a hearse. The boy kept me company, and he had an arm around my shoulders to show that he was there. We both needed the comfort. I wanted to push this stranger away, but I couldn't move. Even the simplest movement could draw their attention. I could smell their beer stained breath from where I was.
"All the money, in this bag, now!" One of the men in the dark masks ordered the tender of my line. I felt sorry for her. He had a gun pointed at her, and the old lady's hands shook as she opened the register and threw the money in the bag. The robber didn't seem to like that, so he put the gun to her temple. I closed my eyes, waiting for the shot.
"We want the money in the vault, Betty Crocker." Seeing the man grin made my heart lurch. None of us would get out of here alive if nobody called 911. I carefully slipped my hand into my jacket pocket, glad I take my phone everywhere I go.
"What are you doing!" The boy hissed in my ear. I was shaking so badly, I thought I'd need help pushing the screen. Pushing emergency call on my lock screen, I dialed 911. "You're going to get caught." His fists were turning white under the pressure of his nails digging into his palms. I understood why he was so anxious.
"Getting some help, doofus. I'm not about to die in a bank when I have a party on Friday." Is that all you can think about, Terra? A party? From the way the boy stared at me, he agreed with my thoughts. I should be as overwhelmed and submissive as he was. But I wasn't. My parents raised me to be smart, and calling the cops was the one thing on my mind.
"Nine-one-one, what's your emergency?" I choked as I tried to muster the courage to speak. There were four robbers: two at the door, one at the register, and one patrolling. I was risking my life talking to the crime stoppers. My palms sweat as I thought of what to say. My vocal cords had seemed to give out as I stared at the guns in all their hands, and their greedy eyes. "Hello? What is your emergency?" The teller prompted. Gosh darn, just speak you idgit!
"There's a robbery in process at the bank on Main Street." I whispered, loud enough to be heard through the phone.
"There are police and ambulances headed your way. Now, stay on the phone with me and be calm. What's your name?" The teller spoke in a sincere and inquisitive way. The boy squeezed my shoulder as the robber made his round our way.
"Terra Miller." I squeaked. That drew the attention of the robber. I froze as he came up to me and stole the phone from my shaking hand, a smug look on his face. Throwing the phone to the floor, he stomped I don't know how many times on the glass and material.
"We have a nine-one-one-er over here." He spoke, grappling my shirt in his hands. I screamed as I was lifted into the air. "And she's a pretty one." His evil smile made me want to puke. And that's exactly what I did. I hunched my neck back, and squirted out the contents of my stomach all over him. Take that! Hah!
"You weiner face! That phone had all my contacts and Facebook statuses on it! How will I get my pictures back?" I yelled at him, spitting the rest of my vomit on his chest. He dropped me, wiping at his face. Eeep! I scampered away from him, only to come in contact with another robber's body.
"You're right, bro. She has some nice curves." I swiped my hand across his face, only to have it caught in his grip. I cried out as I felt him squeeze my bony and thin wrist. I heard a couple of other cries from the people around me as well. I felt him try to grope at me. This is not happening. I'd rather fall into a container of bat guano than have this happen to me. I kicked at him, my eyes tearing at the ends. I was Terra motherflipping Miller.
"Don't touch her!" To my surprise, the boy I'd met not too long ago swung his fist around to come in contact with the robber's eye. With a yelled, he released me. The other three were still coming, and the punch to the eye seemed to have only dazed the pedophile. It was full on chaos after that. The boy, again, that I just met, protected me from the men. He threw punches and kicks that would have made Chuck Norris proud. I was even a little surprised myself. He must have been enrolled in Karate or something. All the while he took and recieved the punches of the other three.
"Duck!" I yelled at nothing in particular. It caught the robbers off guard, and one of them went down with a kick in the face as the others ducked at nothing. One of them turned, and they walked toward me on the other side of the room.
"You little-" I didn't hear what he said before a gunshot rang across the room. All of a sudden, the robber fell to the ground, clutching the back of his thigh, weeping. That's what you get, bitch. Take that! You don't mess with Terra motherflipping Miller! Hah! Even though I didn't technically do something, I was pretty proud of myself. My stupidity may have saved my life.
"Freeze! Hand on your head! Step away from the weapons and surrender!" The police came around the door, guns in their hands. They were pointing their guns at some of the robbers, and at the boy that had tried to protect me. I ran to him and jumped in front of him, spreading my arms.
"It wasn't him robbing the place. I swear! He saved my life." I waited a second. He looked as shocked as I was when he protected me. "He's my..." I thought of what to say. "My hero?"
