An Apple Gathering: pg. 53

We're all going to have a fruitful life of companionship... unless we squander our youth and therefore our life is ruined- dratted apple tree.

Note: This is a really good poem if wanting to talk about isolation due out-stepping societal conventions. e.g. could the speaker be a fallen woman??

Handy bit of AO3: Significance of an apple could link to biblical connotations: in Songs of Solomon the lover is described as an apple tree (link to 'A Birthday?), or possibly this could link to the fatal apple in the Garden of Eden?

Yes! Linking the bible/other books into your essay is context (as long as it is RELEVANT)- I felt it was one of the easiest ways because you can integrate it within your analysis and it is so present within Rossetti's poems.
