I could feel the light burning my eyes, it was morning and the sun was up. I inched open my right eye just far enough so I could see Becca doing her hair.

“Morning.” I groaned. Becca jumped out of her chair.

“Gosh, I didn’t realise you were awake.” She smiled at me and caught her breath.

“Yeah, sorry about that.” I yawned. “What time is it?”

“Half eight; in the holidays breakfast is at nine.” She said while clipping her hair into place.

“I better get ready then.”

After getting washed and dressed I quickly brush my hair and leave it natural.

“Your hair is lovely down.” Becca complimented. I looked in my mirror; I was nothing special, wavy brown hair down to my waist with very pale skin, pink lips and big green eyes. I’d never liked to way I looked; my nose always seemed a little pointy and my lips didn’t have much width, but as I got older I was starting to look better.

“I’m starting to think you’re always going to look beautiful.” I looked at Becca, her hair was styled carefully into a bobble and her make-up was lightly applied.

“Don’t be silly.” She laughed but I could tell she was happy about the compliment.

“Do you think we’re going anywhere today?” I asked.

“No on Sundays we normally just sit around in the garden. It’ll give you a chance to get to know everyone and I get to give you the tour.” She seemed particularly happy about the tour and I didn’t know why. “Are you ready?” I nod and we head off towards the dining area.

The dining area is a long rectangular room with a wooden table and enough chairs for twenty people. The walls are a slightly darker cream than the carpet. It has two doors one from the hallway and a French door leading to the garden. The sun was shining brightly outside and the grass looked luscious and green.

“Am I allowed to sit where ever I like?” I asked Becca. We were the first people down and she just laughed.

“Why wouldn’t you be allowed to sit where you like?” I take that as a yes and sit next to her while I reply.

“Some places I’ve stayed have seating arrangements so you can’t mess around at lunch.” I sighed. Becca starts helping herself to food. In the middle of the table there was toast, cereal, milk, orange juice, muffins and fruit. “It’s like a banquet.” I laughed.

“Yeah, it’s great help yourself.” She smiled. After a bowl of cereal Sophie, Avery and Evie come in and sit down. They all say good morning and ask how I like the place. Next Shelby comes in with Zack, a few minutes later Harry, Colin and Paul walk in. Last Brandon, Tyler and Claire stroll in.

Tyler comes straight in and sits next to me and Brandon sits to his left.

“Good morning Charlie.”

“Morning Tyler.” I replied. I hear a little cough behind me and turn to look; Tyler does the same.

“Excuse me Tyler, but I would like to sit next to Charlie today.” She says it in such a polite voice Tyler and I can’t help but laugh a little.

“Of course, sorry Claire.” He turns to his brother. “We have orders budge up.” Brandon does as he is told and Claire sits next to me.

“Hello Claire.” I smiled.

“Hello Charlie, sorry about Tyler he obviously isn’t awake.” It struck me that Claire was incredibly clever for her age the way she spoke and acted.
