My name is Ryka Peterson. I am 5'7", I have long brown hair, and brown eyes. My wolf is solid black with red undertones, her name is Scarlett. I come from a long line of Pack Warriors, so my wolf is as big as, or bigger than, most Alpha's. Over time, my family worked their way up to the position of Head Warrior. I will be given my title when I am eighteen, or when I find my mate. I am currently fourteen, so I will have to wait a while. My mother is Maria, and my father is Luke. My parents are very good friends with Alpha Mark Black and Luna Taylor Black. Kaiden Black will be Alpha when he is eighteen, or when he finds his mate. He is only one year older than me at fifteen, we have been friends since we were in diapers.
We shift with our clothes on. Many people think that when we shift our clothes rip, so we are naked when we return to human form. This is just a myth. The Moon Goddess made us so that we always shift back to human form with clothes on.
The Moon Goddess, is our creator. She gave us the ability to shift into wolves. Along with being able to communicate with each other, via mindlink. This is a spiritual connection in all werewolves, that allows us to enter another wolves mind, and communicate with them. This allows all wolves to communicate within their pack and only their pack. Alphas and Betas can communicate to wolves that aren't in their pack. The Werewolf King, Rogue King, and Vampire King can communicate with any celestial being at any given time. Wolves worship the Moon Goddess in many different ways, each pack has a tradition that takes place every full moon. My pack has a feast, then takes a pack run afterwards. Our wolves become restless on full moons because of the pull from the Moon Goddess.
The Werewolf King and The Rogue King are both five foot tall in wolf form. In my wolf form, I am 4'5" but I am still growing. My father is only two inches taller than me and my mother is the same height as me. Alpha Mark and Kaiden are both 4'8". The average non-noble werewolf is about 3'6".
The Alpha and Luna are the leaders of the pack. Most of the time the Alpha is male and the Luna is female. The Luna is the mother of the pack, and the Alpha is the father. Mostly, the Luna takes care of the kids. Although, she doesn't have to if she doesn't want to. The Alpha protects the pack in many ways. He has special Alpha Duties that include finances and things like that. To be an Alpha or Luna you have to be born into it, your mate has to be one, or you have to challenge the current Alpha or Luna. When you challenge someone for their position you will fight in wolf form, and in human form. You must defeat both the wolf and human side because each side is a different conscience. The winner takes/keeps their position and decides what to do with the loser.
The Beta is second in command, Dakota Collins is Alpha Mark's Beta. Kaiden's Beta will be Dakota's daughter, Cynthia. When she finds her mate he will become the Beta, unless he is an Alpha. If he is an Alpha, then Cynthia will go to his pack, and Kaiden will find a new Beta. The Beta does everything the Alpha does but mainly deals with other packs. Beta's research other packs and take care of them when they visit. There is also a Gamma and a Delta. Gamma's and Delta's watch over the pack members and things like that. They also help with the Warriors.
My father is Head Warrior, so he commands all of the Warrior Wolves. He has a Second in Command, Steven, and a Head of Border Patrol, Jacob. They are like uncles to me because they are so close to my parents. My mother helps my father with war plans and financial stuff. She could help train wolves, but she chooses not to. I help train the younger wolves, when I don't have school.
Wolves start train when they shift, or when they turn ten, the average shifting age is ten. My first shift was on my sixth birthday. Kaiden's first shift was on his twelfth birthday. Kaiden and I started training when I was six and he was eight. We were not only taught to fight, we also learned how to lead the pack and other specific things we needed to know for our position. If Kaiden is gone I am trusted to lead the pack. In most cases, the Beta is trusted to lead when the Alpha is away.
Mates in the wolf world, are like soulmates in the human world. The Moon Goddess created a mate for every wolf. Your mate is your other half, you can find you mate when you are sixteen. Your mate has a distinct smell. My mother says my father smells like spices, and my father says my mother smells like lavender. Also, when you touch your mate you will feel little electric shocks. You will immediately want to be close to your mate. A wolf marks their mate by biting their neck, the last step in the mating process is something I'd rather not talk about, it's not that important anyways. I haven't found my mate yet, because I am not old enough. Kaiden can find his mate soon because he will turn sixteen. The Alpha and Luna are holding a banquet and other packs are coming, so it will be easier for Kaiden to find his mate.
The Black Paw Pack is one of the biggest packs on the eastern side of the United States. We have many enemies and many allies, our surrounding packs are some of our allies. The Blood Moon Pack, the Silver Rock Pack, and the Sharp Claw Pack are the closest to us. Some of our enemies are Vampires and rogues. Rogues are wolves that have been exiled, or were born into it. Rogues can join another pack, but can never rejoin their old pack, unless it is under a different Alpha. So, if a wolf is kicked out of my pack under Alpha Mark, he can rejoin the pack when Kaiden becomes Alpha. Some packs don't let rogues join and kill them, such as the Blood Moon Pack. The Black Paw Pack lets most rogues join. Alpha Mark is very forgiving, unlike his son Kaiden. Vampires are our enemies, and always have been. The First Werewolf King, The First Rogue King, and The First Vampire King, were all brothers, and they hated each other. This taught the future generations to hate each other also. We don't have many problems with vampires, because there aren't many in the area, and we are one of the most feared packs in the United States.
