an obscure presence stands in the corner of my cornered room. i fall asleep to the sound of it's steady breathing and its whispers of pretty words. it's late. or early. and i rise up in bed because i lied when i said i fell asleep. it forces my eyelids open and tears rain down my cheeks from both the drying of my eyes and its poems. when you rush in, it vanishes and you ask "can you keep it down i'm trying to sleep" when the tears stopped raining down my cheeks and started flooding the cornered room. it blinds you from seeing my salty waterworks. it gives you a boat so you don't get your robe wet and leaves me only floating from the lack of ability to have a steady breath like it. only when i wake up while underwater at a decent hour do i get to breathe steadily like it or you never taught me.
