There may be some strong language present.
"How? How do I know what happened in these scenarios-" I asked, once again, confused, and cut off.
"Without having any background knowledge except what's written on the side?" He finished my question. The books and the movies were wrong. This isn't cute or romantic at all.
"Yeah," I said, a little surprised over the fact that he knew what I was going to ask.
"The pill you swallowed can explain that. It wasn't drugs, it's something we call a Familiar dream seeker, or FDSK for short." Rye explained.
"FDSK... what does it do?" I requested.
Brrrrrrr... Brrrrrrr... Brrrrrrrr
Something started buzzing. He looked down on his phone and saw the caller.
"Hey, I need to take this, is that okay?" He said, looking slightly worried.
"Yeah, sure, I mean if it's important then you should answer..." I said, a little blue over the fact that we were interrupted, and slightly annoyed that I will have to wait for the explanation.
He walked away, out the door, and stayed right outside the huge window.
I realized that we had been talking for quite some time now, so I checked my phone. The screen lit up, revealing the time. 10:37... We had been here for over an hour.
I looked around, once again seeing the faint ghosts, floating around their twin. I tried to focus. I closed my eyes and took three deep breaths.
1... 2... 3...
I opened my eyes, and tried to turn the 'ghost' switch off in my mind. The ghosts were still there, but they we're even more transparent and flickering this time. If I just practice, I think I can get a hang of this, I thought to myself.
The door opened, and Rye walked inside. He placed down his phone, and sat down.
"So, I only have a few minutes left to explain everything to you before I have to leave, which is why there is a more thorough explanation in the yellow package." He said. The yellow package! I had almost forgotten about it, even though it was still right infront of me.
"What was I explaining again?" He asked. He seemed slightly stressed.
"Something about Familiar dream...?" I tried to remember what it was called.
"Ooh the FDSK, yeah, I remember now." He said quickly. "It enables you to foresee possible outcomes and hidden parts of people. It also makes you able to see a photo and know what happened. It's the reason that we can do what we do in this organization."
"And what is it that... we... do?" I asked hesitantly, wondering if it was alright for me to include myself yet.
"We help people to fix their problems, as I told you over the phone." He said, making a gesture to his phone. "The 'how we do it' is all in the package. I think that is all the time I had, I'll see you soon." He gave me a quick hug and left his card on the table before leaving.
"Bye..." I said too late. It's up to me now to figure this shit out, huh? I thought.
Looking down on the small coffee table for two, I saw my file, along with the package. I took the thin yellow cardboard and poured out the content. A thick bundle of paper slid out. Well, I better start reading, I noted. But first, I think that I also should head back.
The barista seemed to have been eyeing me for sometime now, which is understandable, considering that I've been here for how long? About an hour and 45 minutes?
I stood up, waved at the barista, and walked out the door.
