Chapter 4: meanings?
"What do you mean 'What"? Elisabeth walked toward me, her eye's burning like flames. A chill ran up my spine, but I squared my shoulders. Grace flinched out an arm and Elisabeth stopped, calming down. "What she meant was, I just read your mind and you're not freaking out?" Grace stared seriously at me. "No..... because I could feel you. Trespasser." Graces eye's open wide and they sparkled. She moved forward, her body going over mine. "Do you mean you want to...?" She was abnormally close. I almost crawled into the crack in the red brick wall.
Does she think I'm lesbian?! uh... I kept the jiters that threaten to come over me under control and let my hair fall into my face, lowering my head so I had to look up at her. "No, i don't walk that path." My tone was indifferent and seriouse. "How does normal human observation miggle into that anyways?" Grace lifted an eyebrow and moved away, back into her kneeling position. "Than what is it that is keeping you calm and sane?" She asked. I kept my hair in my face and straighten up. "I do not bother in what others do as long as it doesn't interfer with me." I said, narrowing my eye's. "But she read your mind. That's interfering, is it not?" Elisabeth added, also raising a blond (and perfectly plucked) eye brow. "yes, indirectly And I don't like it-"
"Your mothers name is Lisa Wilmaker. She's got a prostetic leg and you have forgotten that you need to get her the pills on friday." Grace's tone was flat as her big bright owl like eyes stared hard at me. I caught my breath staring at her. I fixed my glasses and sniffed. She really read my mind..."....But she didn't change the thought or my actions just read them. I can corporate" I finished and patted the black cat, who had finished its lunch. "Arn't you going to ask how I can do this?" Grace asked. I shook my head. "It will make you speak of something that is unspeakable, no?" I responded though i really wanted to know. I didn't look at them but I knew they had tensed up.
"So it wouldn't bother you if I did this?" I heard the jingle of Elisabeth's bracelets as she flicked her wrist. The cats empty food can elevated and shot toward my head. I blinked and flipped backwards, guiding the can with the sole of my shoe then crushing it against the hard floor. The trick had left me now facing the wall, standing up with a metal can smashed on my foot. I slowly turned to look at Elisabeth. "What the hell is your problem?"
"That didn't answer my question." I gave her a death stare and she stepped back slowly. Odd. i lifted my foot and hit the can with my heal, sending it flying around the corner, barley missing the side of Elisabeth's neck. I sighed and regained my uncaring posture. I turned around as the cat patted over to me and brushed against my leg, purring. I pierced my lips, bent down and scooped up the little furr ball, hold him up to my cheek. It licked my skin lightly and I exhaled. "You might not care... but you have the right to know—... There's something special about you." Grace said and got up, walking to pet the cat. Elisabeth stayed where she was. "What does that mean?'
"you really like this cat, don't you?" she asked, changing the subject, I swallowed and craddled the cat, baby style. "I've always loved animals." I was careful to use that word. It seem to fit better.
"Is that so?" Grace mummbled to herself. "Girls?" I snapped my head up, feirce surprise and fear of who ever was coming around the corner. I wasn't prepared to lose my cat. Grace put a hand my shoulder. I didn't tence up. It felt cool and comforting, unlike any other touch I had ever felt. "It's okay. It's just the guys." she said it to me like I knew who the guy's were. "We're here!" Grace yelled and Rick, Max and Demitry walked around the corner. I avoided their stares. "So that's why she ran off." Rick walked up to me and hung his arm around my shoulders, leaning on me like a wall. i gasped. "aww he's so......."
I flinched and recoiled back, a ragged gasp clogging my throat. Next thing I know, Rick's on the floor, with me towering over him. "Don't..... ever touch me like that again. " I said menacingly through my teeth, my hair casting a dark shadow over my face. Ricks face turned serious, (a look that didn't fit what he was suppose to be.) and got up. Everything was silence from what I could hear. My head was still leaning toward the ground. The black cat in my arm scratched it's face and I immediately snapped out of what ever I was in looking at it. "Oh..." I huffed as I realized what had happen. I stepped back, shaken up.
Rick brushed his hair back and reached his arm out but hesitated and put it back. "Nah nah, its cool girl. You did that faster than Max could. " Rick laughed as i set the cat down. "Really, that didn't hurt." he said and smiled, trying to get my to soften my expression. i looked at my hand. i never been done that before.
A shadow towered over me. I looked up, My face, probably shocked. Demitry looked down on me, serious and strong. Like a soldier. "Charlotte....." He put and hand on my shoulder. The flinch shocked me harder than lightning. I slapped Demitrys hand off me so hard he had to step to the side to balance himself. "Don't!" I heard myself scream and I ran past the group, hysteria shaking me to the core and is shot off around the corner.
*i know this chapters short but it leads to some other things that explain why Charlotte blanks out and freaks. so yeah vote me, fan and.......the rest ;)
