"ELLA! AVA! COME GET IN THE CAR! AND ELLA DO NOT FORGET YOUR TOWEL AGAIN!!" My mom yells from the front seat of our car.
I look at Ava. "I swear if Cliff makes us do anything hard today..."
"Ella, you know him. He'll probably have a huge sprint kick set all planned out."
"I know. I hate kick so muchhhh."
"I don't!"
"I KNOW THAT." I roll my eyes at her.
"Hey you're a LOT better than me at pull." Ava laughs. "But I'm better overall."
"That's not what our times say."
"GUYS YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE!!" My mom screams up the stairs again.
"WE'RE COMING!" Ava yells back down.
I walk out of my room and run down the stairs. I grab my backpack and equipment bag and throw them in the trunk before getting in the car. Ava is right behind me. Mom opens the garage door as soon as we're both in and drives to the Sportsplex.
*Skip the drive because I'm lazy.
I jump out of the car and run in. Of course we're late. At least it's only a few minutes and we have dryland today. Ava and I grab mats and jog outside.
"MOO WHY ARE YOU LATE AGAIN?" Cliff looks at me accusingly.
I just roll my eyes at him.
I go sit next to Malli.
"We're doing our 1st grade introductions again." She rolls her eyes and I laugh.
I look around at the new people.
"Moo tell us your name, group, favorite stroke, and something interesting about yourself."
"Uh, I'm Ella Morris, my favorite stroke is freestyle, SPRINT NOT DISTANCE, I'm in Seniors Elite and uhhh..... idk."
"How about how many stupid questions you ask??" Cliff says to me.
"THEY ARE NOT STUPIDDD!!"
"YEAH SURE BECAUSE ASKING SOMETHING THAT IS WRITTEN DOWN ON THE BOARD IS NOT STUPID!" He says, joking around with me.
"YOU DO NOT SPECIFY ENOUGH!"
Everyone is laughing, including me and Cliff.
After that, I listen to other random people introducing themselves, most of whom I already know. After like five minutes I hear someone talking with a strange accent I've never heard before.
"Um, hi. I'm Jayden Croes. I'm in the Seniors Elite group, my favorite stroke is freestyle, and I just moved here from Aruba about a month ago."
"Wow that's pretty far." Cliff says.
Jayden nods. "It wasn't easy."
The last few people introduce themselves, then Cliff looks at me.
"Ella, you're going to help Jayden figure stuff out here since he just moved from another country."
"Uh, ok..."
He partners other people up with new people, then tells us to go get ready to practice.
