I walk inside with Ava and Malli. "I got paired up with a boy, WHO IS FROM ARUBA. IDEK WHAT PEOPLE DO IN ARUBA, EVERYTHING COULD BE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT."
"Ella it's ok I got paired up with a boy too." Malli says.
"Not one from Aruba. What if he can't even speak good English?"
Ava rolls her eyes. "You're acting like Graylinn."
Graylinn is our super overdramatic friend from school.
I laugh. "Still not happy."
We walk out to the pool deck together, with me still grumbling about being with... what's his name... Kayden?
Once we get over there I listen to Clifford randomly talking about what his randomly shortened words mean, like JMI means Just Make Interval, and FRIM means Freestyle IM. After a while of blabbing about that stuff he says we have to be in a lane with our partners.
"SERIOUSLY?!?" Jayden gives me a kind of hurt look, but I don't really care.
"Yes MOO."
He always says my name (nickname) like I did something wrong.
I give him an annoyed look while he explains our warm-up. Five minutes later he tells the people that have been here before to be the lane leaders, and he'll give us a few minutes to get to know each other.
We all walk over to our lanes, and me being my awkward self said absolutely nothing to Jayden.
After a minute he tries to break the silence.
"Um, hi, I'm Jayden..."
"Hi..."
Wow he's probably annoyed about being paired up with me.😂
"What is your name?" He tries again.
"I'm Ella."
"Wow that's a pretty name."
Is he FLIRTING with me?!? What the heck I don't even know who he is!
"Uh.. thanks?"
"You're so shy."
"I know that."
I kinda roll my eyes at him.
"GET IN ON THE NEXT TOP!" Cliff yells.
I put on my goggles. I'm ready to get in to the water where this weirdo can't really talk to me. Uh, I mean new boy.
