A storm had begun, creating bright streaks across the sky, that lasted less than a second. Thunder boomed outside the castle walls while the students of Hogwarts stayed safe in their beds. The marauders were all awake, but to lazy and a little bit too tired to do anything, so they just sat in there beds and talked with the glow of the lights next to their beds illuminating the room softly. The first flash of lightning streaked across the sky, making the dorm much brighter than before. Sirius looked over at Remus.
"I guess Y/N/N will be joining us soon then." He said.
"What do mean?" Remus asked.
"You know. She always comes in here during storms. They scare her."
"She wants to cuddle up to her boyfriend. Makes her feel safe." James added, smirking. Sirius looked over at him.
"You're picturing Lily do the same thing, aren't you."
"Yes, yes I am." James responded, still smiling. That's when they heard small footsteps running up the stairs and a young girl appeared in the doorway.
Y/N P.O.V.
I didn't stop when I reached the door. I ran straight to Remus' bed and got straight under the covers, where he wrapped his arms around me.
"Told you." I heard Sirius say.
Yes, I was scared of thunderstorms. I hated that I was, but I couldn't help it. Another flash of lightning lit up the room and flinched in Remus' arms.
"Hey," I heard him say to me, "S'alright love. Nothing to be scared of."
"Really?" I laughed a little, "Then why am I here? Why did the lightning make me want to scream and why was I all of sudden paranoid that the window was going to break open because of the wind?" I asked. I knew the answer, but I was trying as hard as possible not to think about it.
"I don't know." He said.
"Hey, Y/N, why are you afraid of storms?" James asked.
"I... don't know."
Remus could hear something in my voice, so he moved to look at my face. I kissed his nose, trying to distract him, but it didn't work.
"Do you know?"
"...No."
"Yes, you do. I can tell when you're lying. Why are you not telling us why you're afraid of storms?"
"I just-...it's not important Rem." I said, shrugging my shoulders.
"I don't care, I want to know."
I sighed, figuring he would probably wouldn't let it go. "Okay, fine. We were out with you on a full moon and there was a storm. It shouldn't have bothered me and it didn't. At least, not until your transformation began. It was a really bad one and I could hear you screaming from inside the shrieking shack. And then after a few minutes I could hear this painful whimpering and you hurt yourself really badly that night Remus. Everytime I see lightning, I remember being stuck on one side of the door and you being on the other, going through all this pain and I couldn't help you."
Remus just looked at me, not knowing what to say, so I continued. "I didn't want to tell you because I was afraid that you would think that this irrational fear is your fault."
"But it is-"
"Remus. This is not your fault. And I really don't care, it's just a stupid fear. It doesn't matter. Especially when you don't care if I come into your room in the middle of the night. In fact, part of the reason that I do come hear is to make sure you're okay because if I don't than all I can think of is you screamin and that's most of the reason that I get scared. As long as I'm with you, I know you're okay and I'll be okay to."
Remus pulled me closer to him. "I love you so much."
"I love you to. Can we go to sleep now?" I ask. He nodded and picked up his wand, turning his light out. The other boys did the same. I had almost forgotten that they were there. Remus held me really tight that night and I was right. Even with the thunder going on outside, I knew that Remus was right here and he was okay. That thought kept me safe and far from the memories of his pain from a few months back.
