Hours later
The cool touch of a drop of water hit your right cheek as you tried to open your eyes. Another drop bounced off your cheek again as your eyes started to fully open and you were finally awake. You blinked your eyes a few times to help get yourself out of your slumber as you raised your head to get a look at your surroundings.
Your body laid on a green, folding cot bed and there were a few more to the left of you. There was a small table next to you and you could see two big chandeliers hanging from the center of where ever you are, giving off a faint glow to light up the room. It was starting to get dark outside and you looked around to see who was there. But the sharp pain you felt on your side came back, along with a small headache. You groaned in pain a bit and looked to see that you were in your black henley shirt, pants and shoes. There was some padded thing sticking out from under your shirt and you pulled your shirt up to see that there was some bandaging on the right side of your abdomen.
"Good to see that you're finally awake." You heard. It was man's voice, based on how deep it was and of course it had an English accent to it. You looked ahead to see a black man come up some stairs in front of you as he held a small LED lantern in his right hand and a small green thermos in his left. He had on a black button up, short-sleeved shirt with a white clergy collar, black pants with a black leather belt around them that had a silver buckle, black shoes, a goatee with some grey and the hair on his head was shaved down to the skin.
(AU Note- Idris Elba, if you need a face and a voice.)
"I was starting to worry that I had to tell that poor little girl that her friend had passed away."
"Is she..?"
"She fine. You on the other hand, I can not say the same."
You sat up slowly while your hand laid on the bandages on your body, groaning in pain a bit. "What happened?"
"You took three bullets to your side there and passed out from shock which made the removal of the bullets much easier. You and your friend had an unlucky encounter with a Bastion unit. Thankfully, some of our people saw you and came to your aid."
"Where am I?"
"St. Clarence's Cathedral in King's Row. I am Father Elias and your name is..(Y/N) correct?" He asked as he grabbed a chair and sat to your left.
"Yeah. That's right. Hey, where's my gear?"
He pointed down outwards toward the center of the church, "Down there, we had to remove it so that we could tend to your wounds. Here, drink this." He said as he took the cap off the thermos and poured something hot into the cap. He put the hot beverage in front of you, "It's hot chocolate."
You grasped the cup, wrapped one hand around it and the other on the handle as you took a sip of the warm, sweet beverage. "Thank you." You looked back at the hot chocolate that was in the cup. "What? No marshmallows?" You said in a jokingly manner.
Father Elias gave you a small snicker, "Sorry. We gave the last few to your friend down there."
"It's alright. But really, thank you. So what happened out there? "
Elias leaned in and had his arms resting on his knees as he told you what happened. "The small group we sent out this morning to search for supplies saw you crossing the plaza through one of the shop windows. You must have been walking too fast to see them. They saw you run back up the street and into the alleyway. The three of them hid as the bastion unit followed you and started to light up the alley you were in. But when it had to reload,Jacques, a member of the group, got close enough to light and roll a pipe bomb right under the machine. Next thing they knew, they saw you on your side unconscious, with Elizabeth shaking you to wake up. They carried you, brought you here, then Ms. or soon to be Dr. Carter removed the bullets from your side, bandaged you up and here you are."
