He used to have a girlfriend. Her name was Celia, and from the way he described her, she must have been beautiful! My heart squeazed every time he mentioned her, and I ground my teeth together when he would smile at the thought of her. I had no idea why...

He had loved her, and she had loved him, but then, about seven years back, they had been running through a park at night when they were ambushed by humans. I winced when I heard the part about the wire cord. They had taken her, and he had fought back with everything he had, desperatly trying to get her back... but just like with me and my family, he was over powered by the humans and Celia was taken.

After that, he had chased the car that she was held in for as long as he could before he reached his limit and colapsed in the middle of the road.

While he was blacked out, he nearly run over, but luckily, he was saved...

When he finally woke up, he found himself in the Neko town, surrounded by a handful of worried faces. He didn't fit in, just like me, and so he distanced himself and hardened his heart, not letting ANYONE in for anything. He eventually gained a reputation for being the most feared Neko in town.

"You are the first person I've told..."

"Is that because I'm the first one who asked?"

He was silent. Then he gave me a cold sideways glance.

"So what about you? What's your reason for being so cold to everybody?"

My eyes widened. I hadn't expected him to ask me for MY backstory. I sighed and started the sad, unforgiving story, watching his reactions as I told him. I was amazed as I saw his face soften from his icy glare to a look of somthing that may have been empathy..? Even with the awful things that had happened in my recent past, as I started talking about him, I couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corner of my lips.

As my story came to a close, a saw his face form a smug smile.

"I asked for the reason you're so cold, not your life story."

"Uhm, excuse you, but my LIFE STORY is the whole REASON I'm cold!!"

"You didn't seem very cold when you talked about me..."

His unexpected comment caught me off guard, making my eyes grow wide and my cheeks to be dusted with pink. I swiftly ducked away and stood, clearing my throat.

"Uhm... w-we should get going..."

He was silent as he got to his feet. He walked past me and stepped into the bushes. I caught his eyes once before he disappeard, and I started running after him. I caught up with him again, just as easily as before. He wasn't very fast, and I was able to keep up with him without much effort.

I had gotten bored and decided to make things a little more interesting. I looked up at the tree tops, judging the distance between me and my target branch before I shrank to my cat and lept all the way to the branch. I stopped and turned back to Wren to see if he had seen my jump, but when I turned, a flash of salmon and black whizzed past my face.

"Challenge accepted!"

I stared dumbstruck at the grinning cat sitting five feet above me. I shook my head, snapping back to my competitive self and smirked before bounding towards him. He lept away, sending my flying into a tangle of branches. In a flash, I swung my legs forward and pushed off the wall of wood back towards him, again, met with the empty outline of a cat.

He dashed through the tree tops, ducking and leaping and twisting through the mess of entwined tree branches, I close on his tail.

We kept running, me chasing his zig-zagging figure as best that I could. He was trying to confuse me on purpose!

"Would you cut it out?!"

"Nah!"

"Why you..!"

I bunched my muscles and jumped as far as I could, taking the needed measures to catch him right when he was in reach. I wrapped my arms around his furry body and pulled him down with me to the ground. Luckily, we were in a area of the canopy fairly close to the ground, so we didn't fall too far.

With a bout of laughter, we broke apart and tumbled to the ground. I landed on my feet then jumped sideways onto my back and waved my paws in the air as I laughed for the first time in years. I was abruptly cut off as I was jumped from the left and rolled with my furry attacker until I was on my back with him on top of me.

I let out another carefree laugh as he gulped air above me, a smile pulling his lips back to reveal his pointy, white teeth. I blinked and met his eyes, my laughter cut short as I noticed how his onyx orbs shined with an unfamiliar light that I was sure wasn't there before.

We stayed there for a few moments, just staring into each other's eyes before he blinked, clearing his throat and getting off of me. He turned away.

"U-uh, c'mon... the town should be just through here..."

I rolled over and watched him as he padded around, poking his head into the bushes.

Maybe... maybe I didn't hate him...

Then a devilish though crossed my mind.

"There it is.." He called, his head pulling back from the bushes. His eyes met mine for a moment, then we both looked away. "Uhm, the town is right past these bushes..."

I smiled evily and walked past him, my nose in the air.

"Good boy!"

I saw him stiffin at those words, his face darkening in a mischevious way as he pulled his lips back in a joking snarl.

"I warned you!"
