Wren's Explination to Natsu

All in Wren's POV

So, I know that coming back and acting as if everything was terrific wasn't the best way of breaking the news to you... I should have remembered that if you are ANYTHING like me, you wouldn't be very happy with what I did...

*sigh* What we... I did back then was unacceptable. There is no excuse for leaving you stranded at such a young age without anyone to care for you. But when your mother went missing, I... *lump forms in throat, cutting off the sentance*

I dropped everything... even you, Natsu... without even the slightest warning. *grunts and grabs hair in hands* I was such an idiot!!

Anyway, you want an explination, you're gonna get one...

Flashback

It was a dreery day, the sky covered in clouds, grey and drab, and the smell of rain filled my nose. I slunk along the top of the roof and hastily made my way back to the alley way where Vee was situated.

I lept down and ducked under the flap of the box. My eyes adjusted to the shadows almost immediatly as I found the eyes of my mate. When she saw me, she smiled. Her back was faceing me, her head stretched out to see the opening.

I took a quick look around the tight box and grimmaced.

"I miss my empire... this box is too small for my liking."

She huffed. "Yeah, well, we had to move. If we stayed in that heap of cardboard, the kittens would have gotten lost countless times." She sighed. "It would have been a nightmare!"

My ears pricked at the mention of the kittens. "How are they?" I asked softly as I carefully padded over to her.

Her smile returned as she turned to look at two tiny balls of fur. "Kameel is still asleep, but Natsu..."

At the mention of his name, the tiny salmon kitten popped his head up, his big eyes brimming with curiosity. When he saw me, his lips pulled back to reveal his wide toothy grin, strickingly similar to my own, and lept out from the cover of Vee's fur.

He pounced on one of my paws, knawing on it and scrating it with his tiny, needle sharp claws.

"Ah, aha!! Hey, squirt, that hurts!!" I chuckled as I quickly slipped my paws away from his vicious attacks. When his first target escaped, he quickly switched to my tail, pouncing on it and leaping into the air.

"Natsu! Quit beating up your father! He's already beaten as it is!" Vee scolded the tiny ball of energy.

"I swear, he get's his constant supply of energy from you." I chuffed.

"And his bottomless pit from you." She countered.

"I take pride in my "bottomless pit". It has won me many awards." I said.

"From who, yourself?"

"Oh, now that's just hurtful."

She laughed, the sound of it was the sweetest sound in the world.

Suddenly, I was tackled from behind. I toppled over from the sudden force and landed with a thump. After faking a daze, I jumped up and faced my attacker.

"Who dares attack a distracted apponent?" I boomed.

"I DO!!!" The tiny kitten exclaimed. His salmon tail lashed excitedly behind him, his ears flat against his head before snapping up and floding back again as he jumped from side to side.

"C'mere, Pinkie!!!" I snarled jokingly and pounced on the little tuft of fur.

"It's SALMON!!!" Natsu and Vee shouted.

"Jeez, I was just kidding!" I muttered, giving a wink behind me.

We were a happy little group... I was grateful for all I had after such a tromatizing beggining... but unfortunately, no happy moments last forever...

Another flashback

I toyed with the chicken I had cornered in the pen. I swiped my paw at it, laughing as it clucked in surprise and fear. But after a while of terrifying chickens, I got bored.

I decided to go check up on the kittens and Vee, seeing as I had been away for a while.

It's been about three years since the kittens were born, and they were now nothing but little tornados of energy, claws and teeth. Kameel was able to control herself a little better than Natsu, but he was a never ending whirlwind! He couldn't go two seconds without pouncing on the first thing that moved, which was unfortunatly my tail more times than once.

As I got closer to the little box, the shrill cries of Natsu and Kameel rang through my ears. My heart stopped for a split second before I raced to the alley.

When I dove down and skidded to a stop in front of the box, I stood horrified at what I saw.

The kittens were sitting in front of a torn up box, slash marks and blood splatters marking the wall and ground. Tufts of salmon fur littered the ground, and I knew for a fact that it wasn't from Natsu.

Kameel was sitting above a curled up Natsu, a grim look on her tiny face as she stared at what was left of the box we had once called home.

"What..." Words failed me. All I could do was stare silently at the blood and fur. She had deffinetly put up a fight, that was for certain.

Kameel was silent.

"I-i h-had run o-off, ch-chasing a b-beetle, and K-kameel had run a-after m-me. W-when w-we came b-back, w-we saw th-this!!" Natsu stammered between sobs. He curled up even tighter, his cries wracking his tiny body. "M-mama..." He was cut off by another wave of fresh tears.

I didn't even think... I flew out of the alley way, leaving my two beloved kittens behind me. I had to find her...

I HAD to FIND HER!!!!!!

*holds head in hands, tears silently falling to the floor* Years passed, and after endless searching, I had finally given up. Vee was gone. I would never see her again...

In my sorry state, I met Mia. She made me feel just the slightest bit better. I did have feelings for her, but being with her just made me feel rotten, knowing that I would never be able to love her like I loved your mother. Every day, I had to live with that torment, that sorrow, that pain that I had hoped I would NEVER have to experience again!! And you...

After all those years of searching, the burning fact that I had left you behind ate away at me. It tore me to literal PEICES every time I thought of how much pain I must have put you through...

*pulls at hair* *sholders shake with quiet sobs*

As the time went by, I couldn't bring myself to go back. After what I did, I knew you wouldn't be able to look at me, wouldn't be able to forgive me for my choices... so I stayed away...
