A nearby gun shot snapped me out of my thoughts and I saw enemy men running towards the barricades and at me. I ran back into the nearby buildings and waited for the men to pass me. I heard them jump in a vehicle and drive off, leaving me alone on the battle field. Was the battle over? Did we win? I raced out of the building and back to the barricades where my team was. I jumped over it and landed on the sound with a thud. Nobody but some dead men were laying on the ground. Where was Kurt, Brock, Mars, or even Beck? I frantically raced towards where we had parked. I ran but I didn't see a trace of them, they just seemed to had vanished. Only one Hummer was left with a door open and a man laying outside dead. I had no idea how to get back to base or which direction to go in. I sat down, thinking about what I should do or where to go. They couldn't just leave me here right? They would come back for me I hoped. I paced back and forth wondering what to do when I heard distance gunshots that were about a mile away.
I took off running towards it, hoping I would find my crew and Kurt. The smell of gunpowder grew stronger as I neared the gunshots. I could here someone mumbling to themselves in a nearby abandoned building. They didn't smell like the musty enemies so I headed towards the voice. I saw a man dressed up in uniform like my teams, he was slouching against the wall with blood coming out from his side. I lowered my tail and slowly walked over, almost scooting my way on the floor. He groaned out loud as he moved his side and noticed me. I lowered my head in a greeting way and walked closer to him, where he could reach out and pet me. I felt his hand slowly touch my fur and I could sense his life leaving him. What could I do to save this man? He was on my side after all, so I had to at least attempt to save him. He was also the only person left behind with me.
He let out a sigh and finally spoke. His voice came out dry and choked "Hey boy you probably won't understand me but can you go and fetch me something out of a vehicle? Go get me a bag left in the back seat of it please. Go Boy!". He laid his head against the wall and I tilted my head to look at him. The vehicle that was left at the barricades? I guess I would just have to press my luck and find out. I barked at him and took off running back towards the Hummer. It had to be the one he was talking about I didn't see any others nearby. I sprinted out of the building and into the Norway Forest.
I skidded to a halt as I almost ran into the side of the Hummer. Ok find a bag in the back seat I kept repeating over in my head. I moved past the dead guy who had his hand still on the door handle and jumped inside the Hummer. I sniffed around the back seat till my nose hit a camouflage backpack. This bag had to be the one he was talking about. I grabbed it with my mouth and took off running back to him. I jumped down out the Hummer and landed next the dead guy. I sprinted back trying to remember my path back to the wounded man.
I was panting from being out of breath but I finally back at the building with the man. He smiled when he saw me and started to laugh but he ended up coughing instead. I ran over to him and dropped the backpack in front of him. He grabbed it and dug in it, looking for something. I turned my head sides and watched him. He pulled out a roll of gauze and placed some of it on his side, soaking it in red. He held it there for a minute and he added more, covering the already soaked gauze. He unzipped part of the backpack and pulled out a bottle that made a rattling noise. He unscrewed it and popped something in his mouth. He swallowed it without anything to drink and went back to addressing his wound.
He pulled out some more dressing and tape. He held the gauze down and wrapped dressing around it and taped the sides, holding the wound in place and preventing any more bleeding. He leaned against the wall and sighed. I moved closer to him and laid my head down on his knees. I saved him so far and I was going to keep him alive till I could get back to Kurt and then he could leave. What am I going to do to get back to my crew and how could they leave me? I closed my eyes as he stroked my fur.
