I am sitting alone at the table in biology when the principle brings the new kid in. I don't look up when he comes in, I will get plenty if chances to see him, he will sit next to me...in Blaine's place. The teacher announces "Everybody! Everybody, may I have your attention! You too Nate, stop mopping and be polite! This is our new student Nick Sinclair." The teen just stands there looking slightly embarrassed. He is handsome, brown hair and dark blue eyes, he is tall and is tan and looks fairly muscular. Everybody stares, some of the girls giggle. The teacher points to the back "Go sit beside Nate." He looks at her confused. "Nate is the blond kid back there mopping with his head on the desk." Immediately my best friend Cooper's tan hand shoots into the air. "He has a good reason, ma'am." "Yes, I know I know. That doesn't mean he can't work or pay attention." She stares at the teacher, an infuriated look on her face. When she looks back at me I say "Don't Coop, she doesn't understand. She doesn't care about feelings." That's when Nick sits down beside me. "I do understands Mr.Taylor. I have had people close to me die. Do not write me off as a person with no feelings!" That set me off like a rocket. "You do not understand!!! Stop acting like you do!!! You haven't been through anything like this!!! Stop pretending you have!!!" I say, my voice raised slightly. "I have had friends die before Mr. Taylor. I know exactly how you feel. Now calm down." I am extremely mad now. I stand up and yell "You do not understand!!! You may have had close friends die, but Blaine was more than a best friend to me!!! I loved him!!! He died right in front of me!!! I watched him die, I was there the entire time!!!" The entire class was silent and Cooper had tears running down her face. Mrs. Galloway was shocked but easily recovered. "I may not have been there at the time but-" I cut her off "Just stop!!!" I run out of the classroom, and continued down the hall even when I heard Mrs. Galloway screaming my name. I stay in the bathroom, until Mrs. Galloway figured out that I was not going back in the classroom. She sent Cooper to come and get me. "I am not going back into that classroom Cooper." She just looks at me and replies I don't expect you to. I can't believe she did that. And the nerve to put the new kid in his seat!" I sigh and say "it's not his fault, I'm not going to hate him just for having to sit where...Blaine sat." She nods "I also can't believe you made me come into the boys bathroom to get you." I smile a little at that. "Come on let's get out of here." I nod and let her drag me out. Will comes up to us just as we come back outside. He says "the principle needs to see you." I raise my eyebrows and say "I'm a dead man." Cooper and Will nod and murmur in agreement.
When I get to the principle's office, the new boy is sitting in one of the chairs, in the corner is the devil herself, Mrs. Galloway. The principle attempts a welcoming smile and says "Welcome again Mr. Taylor, sit." I sit gripping the arms of the chair tightly. "About the incident in Madam Galloway's classroom, can you tell me why you had such a violent outburst?" Proffecer Worthy asks. I glance at Nick and Mrs. Galloway. "She insulted me about my ever-present mourning. She said she understood exactly what I was going through and I said I didn't believe her." Mrs. Galloway stands up and starts to say something but Proffecer Worthy cuts her off, "So you did yell at her?" I nod. "She knows exactly why I acting like a b****!" He scowls at me "language Mr. Taylor." I reply " I'm sorry sir, but she knows what I am going through right now an she chose to taunt me." The man nods "Case dismissed. Mrs. Galloway you may go, Mr. Taylor you stay with me and Mr. Sinclair." I squeeze my eyes shut in defeat, "Detention again, sir? What time should I be there?" I ask. Proffecer Worthy smiles slightly amused. "I need you to be Mr. Sinclair's guide. He will be in all of your classes and be your partner in the majority of them, the empty slot unfortunately should be filled." I tense at that. He sees it and quickly tries to cover it " I mean-" I cut him off "Yes sir I understand. You don't have to cover it up. I need to learn to deal with the fact that he's gone...forever." Proffecer Worthy looks at me concerned and Nick looks confused. I feel the tears start to come, I take a deep shuddering breath. "May I go now sir?" Proffecer Worthy looked at me then his desk. It's creative, it has all of the Sophomore's and Junior's pictures. He was looking at the smiling picture of Blaine and the one beside him, me. I feel the tears come spilling over my cheeks. Mr. Worthy stops me when I get to the door. I realise his eyes are teary and his face is red. "Nate, do you want this or should I keep it?" He holds up the picture of Blaine. I just shake my head, I can't speak I'm choking on tears. Nick watches me. I turn and jog out the door. I directly go to find Cooper. She's talking to her friend Blair. What happened Nate?" She asks concerned. I just shake my head again. Cooper comes over and pulls me into a hug and I sob over her shoulder.
When I calm down, she asks again "what happened, Nate?" I take a deep breath and tell her. "Well it doesn't seem all that bad, why were you crying so much?" "Well it was just the little conversation we had afterwards." Cooper nodded and asked no more.
In last period, Nick came in late and sat beside me. A few people turned and glanced at the seat that has been empty for a week and a half. I don't pay attention to anybody or anything. When the bell finally rang to signal the end of school, I attempted to pack up fast, but my mind was still groggy from crying and I was slow. I find it's just me Cooper, Nick, and a few others still in the class room. I walk with Cooper outside and to her bus.
