*James pov*
Ow. My head was pounding, and I didn't want to open my eyes. . I felt as if I had the worlds worst hangover, except....I didn't remember going out to drink last night? I felt a pillow under my head and assumed, I was on my bed.
I groaned in pain, and sat up, and opened my eyes.
This wasn't my room.
I was greeted with a sea of Magenta. The bedspread, and pillow covers were coated in the color, the curtains hanging in front of the windows were magenta as well. How could someone own this much Magenta? But more importantly, where the heck was I? What else had happened last night? I thought back to when I watched Peggy and Maria leave for their date, then I was closing up the library, then....Thomas. Oh god. The last thing I remembered from the night before, was something striking the back of my head, that must've been why my head was in so much pain.
But that still didn't explain where I was. The last place I remembered being was inside of the library.I turned and let my legs rest on the side of the bed. I gazed around the room. There wasn't anything particularly alarming, that I could see. There was a dresser in front of the bed, and a side table to right. The door was on the far left side of the room, and I noticed there was no lock on the knob. I could easily take my leave. But as I gazed once more upon the dresser, my eyes landed on a single picture frame. Inside the frame stood a picture of a woman. She was a very beautiful woman. And she was smiling in the picture. She looked as though she could light up a room with her smile. And she had very kind looking eyes. I looked away from the picture, and stood up. I flinched a bit, for some reason my body seemed to be sore. From what, I had no idea.
I sighed, and slowly walked towards the door. It seemed to take forever to reach it, and every suspenseful moment was torture to me. I had no clue what would wait on the other side. What If I were to step outside that door and shot. the thought sent a shiver throughout my entire body. But what other choice did I have?
I put my hand on the knob, and turned it.
Click
The door opened a small amount and I let go of the knob. I released a breath, I hadn't realized I'd been holding, and put my right hand to the door. I gave the door a small push, and it swung outwards. I poked my head outside of the door, and found myself looking down a small hallway. There were only two other doors in the hallway, besides the one I was currently standing in.
I stepped out of the doorway and stood there in silence for couple of moments, suddenly unaware of what to do next. I put my foot forwards, and the floor board slightly squeaked under my weight. I took a sharp breath in. Wow....a floor board had scared me. I mentally face palmed and exhaled a breath of relief.
I continued to walk to the end of the hallway, I noticed that I must be in a small apartment. The hall way lead off towards two rooms. A kitchen, and a living room. I glanced into the kitchen, there wasn't much to see there. It looked like any other normal kitchen. But the living room that was in front of it gave off a weird vibe. I couldn't really explain it, but even though the apartment was as silent as a graveyard, I couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't alone. It was quite a off feeling.
Passing the kitchen, I noticed there were very few windows in the place. There was a small window above the sink in the kitchen, and Two medium sized windows in the living room, but those to were covered in Magenta curtains as well. Seriously, what was with this person and Magenta?
Anyways, whilst I was in the kitchen I glanced into the living room. I noticed that there was a TV in the smaller room. If someone was here with me wouldn't it have been on? I put a pin in the thought, and noticed an older looking couch on the opposite wall of the TV. There was a coffee table in between the two. That was pretty much it. There wasn't anything eye catching about the room.
I dragged my sore body out of the kitchen, and walked into the living room. There wasn't much to look at. It was quite plain to be honest. The walls were a dull beige color, and the walls quite bare. Thinking back on it, I realized that the only real decoration I'd seen so far was the single picture frame back in the bedroom. I stepped further into the living room and stoked my hand across the arm of the couch. It had a very nice feel to it, but the design I had to admit, was quite hideous. It looked like something an older woman would have owned.
I mean..no offense to the owner of it....I had started to feel anxious wondering what would happen next, an my mind wandered into a deep though.
Suddenly my thoughts were shoved away as a door was shut behind me. I jumped in my skin from the sheer shock factor. I was to terrified to turn around, but somehow I could guess that one of the two other doors, besides the bedroom, had been opened then shut again. I heard shuffling on the floors, and turned my head slowly to see who had been evading my gaze. What, or rather who, I saw made my heart practically stop.
There in the hallway stood Thomas Jefferson, fresh out of the shower. Don't get any ideas though, he was still wearing pajama pants, and he had a towel around his neck. His hair was damp, and I could see water droplets dripping onto his shoulders. Judging by the look on my face, he'd seen me to.
We stared at one another for a moment. Neither of us knowing what to say. I suddenly felt self conscious, I probably looked like a mess, wearing the same old sweater and jeans I had worn last night, and my hair was probably a mess right now. I know I shouldn't have been feeling self conscious at a moment like this, but it was different while standing in front of someone you barely....especially when they looked so well groomed. My thoughts were interrupted by Thomas breaking the awkward silence between us.
" I'm so sorry" He muttered.
"P-pardon me?" I asked, clearly getting nervous.
"I mean...well. I just-you know..ugh. How am I gonna explain this to you?" He questioned to himself.
" You could explain to me who the heck you are, and why I'm here...you know, just for starters.." I stated, I saw starting to get a bit annoyed. For some reason I was finding it hard to get upset at Thomas. He had a certain feel around him in the air, it was a sad feeling. A feeling that made it hard not to pity him, instead of myself.
"Oh...well..You already know my name", He paused for a moment, unsure of what to say. " As you heard last night..I've gotten myself in a bit of trouble with the police. And, all I can tell you is that if you leave this place, your life will be in danger", he stated, staring at the floor.
Could I trust his words?
I'd be a fool to believe him, but if what he says is true...I'd be a fool to leave as well.
" Why is that?" I asked him, my voice wavering a bit.
" Huh?"
"Why's my life in danger?"
"...I cant tell you that right now.."
"....."
What was I supposed to do now? Alright. Calm down James.
I took a deep breath and put one hand up to my head. I'd stay. At least until I could figure out what was going on. I couldn't afford to take any risks right now, considering the circumstances I was in. I looked up at Thomas, with a cold look on my face. That didn't mean I had to like it though.
I put my arms down to my side, and quietly walked past Thomas. I didn't have to look behind me to know that Thomas was shocked by my actions. I continued down the hall and walked back into the room that I had descended from in the first place. I shut the door behind me, and pressed my back to the back of the door. I slowly slid down into an sitting position, with my knees to my chest. I folded my arms around my knees and leaned my head against the door. I let my mind slip away, trying to remember Peggy, and the library. I needed something to take my mind off of the situation.
After forty minutes or so, I could feel myself starting to get nauseous, and light headed. I hadn't taken my medicine in almost six hours....it was going to be a long day.
//Authors Note: I struggled to write this. It ended so awkwardly, because homework is kicking my butt right now, and I'm rushing the chapters, so I'm sorry that this turned out really crappy. I'll try to make it better in the next chapter//
