She woke up with a loud scream, to the sound of her aunt shouting her name over and over again.
Her aunt, looking worried and sad, was holding her shoulders and shaking vigourosly.

Once her aunt was out of the room, she looked at her sweaty self in the mirror. She looked like a mess. All of those along with the fear was gone by the time she took her morning bath. As usual.
The screaming and crying and wailing in her sleep was a usual thing. But not lately. She had been more calm, and the nightmares come only rarely.

"I don't want to leave. Especially with him." She finally voiced her opinion to her Aunt Bianca.

"I know, Tess. I know. I don't want you to leave either. But he's your dad. And he has custody. Law is law. I'm sorry." Bianca said hugging her.

Tessa hugged her back, she understood that her aunt wants her to stay. But she didn't have a choice but to let Tess leave. Besides, Tessa didn't want to intrude too much. Bianca was way too young to be looking after someone her age. She had already spent half a semester of school and most of the summer vacation at Bianca's. Bianca was too nice to say anything, but Tessa knew how hard it would be for her to look after her and carry on woth her life.

She was all packed and ready to leave when her father came to pick her up.

"Tess. Look at you." Was his way of greeting. He hadn't seen her in over a year and he acted like it was nothing new. Well it actually wasn't anything new. The occasional phone calls, gifts for birthdays and holidays, and the monthly deposits in her bank account were the only proof that she actually had a father.

"Hi." She said dully. What more was there to say?

"Come here you big bear." Bianca said pulling Tessa into a big hug. She had already started crying.

"Dont cry." Tessa had to be the one to stop her aunt this time.

"I'm gonna miss you so much." She said.

"Tess honey. Hurry up. The plane leaves in half an hour." Her father shouted from the driveway.

"I'm gonna miss you all the time." Tessa said.

"Now don't forget about me when you get to the city okay?"

"I would never. I promise." Tessa said, saying her last goodbyes.

She stared out the tiny window of the plane, and sighed to herself.

Bye bye Bianca.
Bye bye old friends.
Bye bye Texas.
Hello crappy father.
