Leaving the vault

    Hey there I'm Josh I've lived in this thing called a vault for most of my life. I lived here till I escaped in to the wasteland. But first let me tell you what happen inside the vault and why I left. The vault was a nice home for us all and it keep us from going on in to the nuclear war that was going on but one day I found something I didn't want to and had to get out. I woke up one morning to do my normal business around the vault a few day before I turned seventeen so I started doing harder work. But I was working down by the nuclear reactors when I heard something as I walked to the noise it got louder and louder I walked to a Windows and whipped the dust off it.

    As I looked in a ghoul looked back at me I stumbled back a little because it was unexpected as i catch myself I look through again and see the overseer push Betty one of the vaults maids in to the ghouls. As she hit the ground she tried to land on her feet but she hit to hard and her legs broke and alI I could hear was a snap. The ghouls realized she was there they ran to her and I saw one bite her and it started pulling her flesh from her body and I turned away quickly and covered my eyes. I started to hear her scream so I ran up stairs to my room. A few days went by of me going down and seeing if it was true or I was seeing things but every time I went down a new person was being pushed over and some of the people I had never seen before. I'm sick of sitting here and watching this but I'm not gonna stay here knowing what there doing to people.

    I went to my room found and old bag and started packing my things as I was going through my stuff I remembered my dad's stuff I went through that and found a old colt revolver. I slide the pistol in my pants and slide my shirt over it and I find my way through the vault to the vault door. I look around and find no one I start pulling the lever down and the alarm goes off seance the door is opening and once it opens enough I run out. As I run I turn around to see the overseer waving to me and smiles as he closes the door. I push open a old wooden door as I push it it brakes apart I step out to find just about everything destroyed. I see some houses so this is were we begin are journey as I walk I try to find the house were my grandfather lived in Mechanic falls i forgot to mention we are in Maine.

    I walk about six miles before I come across a sign that reads "Poland, ME Open for business" I walk through the town to find a old gas station that looked like the power still worked. Looking through the door I don't see anyone or anything so I try to open the door it's locked so I kicked the door and my lock just let go. I walk in and start looking for food I grab some chip and open then I pull a chip out an eat it, it tasted a little bad but I can deal with it. There's a loud pop and it jumps me a little but I look over at it and the lights were on in the colors for drinks there's this feeling that I want a drink but I'm not fully sure so I walk and pull a water out. I look at it and put it back and there was a drink called Dr.Pepper I pull it out and start to unscrew the cap as I do there is a fizz noise. Once I get it open I start to drink it and it taste so good but I get this bolt of energy through my body.

    Then someone calls out to me "hey you, who are you?" I turn around pulling out my colt and pointing it at him and stand there quietly. He walks up to me slowly, and says "don't worry I'm not here to hurt you I wanted to find out who you were I've never seen you around before." I'm standing there still quiet wondering what to say. I look around and look at him and say "I'm josh, I'm from the vault now please leave me" and the man walks away and says "sorry for bothering have a nice day". I drink more of the soda and put my colt away and I walk around the store and go in to the second part of it and I realize it's a restaurant but I can't get detracted I've already wasted to much time so I go back in the store part. I pack my bag with food and drink and I walk out and start off down the road to the right of me I walk about a half a mile. See a sign that says "exiting Poland welcome to mechanic falls" and I get a little exciting knowing I'm almost to where my grandfather lived before the bombs went off.
