"Naruto, what are you doing?" Sakura asked with a raised brow, her emerald eyes flickering over to the ecstatic blond who was waving at a couple of villagers who were grinning at him.
"Saying hello!" He responded with a goofy smile."People have been so nice lately."
"When's the last time you spoke to Ayame?" The pinkette quizzed, inclining her head over to the ombré-haired girl, who was in the clothing shop across from them.
"I don't know." Naruto shrugged."Maybe a week after she was admitted out of the hospital." He guessed.
"That was a month ago.." Sai sweatdropped.
"So?"
"She's probably sad, dumbass!" She shouted, slapping the back of his head with great force."She throws herself in front of Pein's jutsu--ugh!"
"Sakura-chan!" He whined, tears brimming his eyes from the pain."What's wrong all of a sudden?"
Sakura sighed."Look, Naruto. I know you're a hero now, so of course everybody loves you, but never forget about the one who loved you more than her own life when nobody else cared about you."
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki." His smile was small, but bright nonetheless."The Future Hokage!"
"I'm Ayame Kawahara." She moved her hand up so that she was now ruffling his hair."The Future Hokage's new friend."
"She.." The yellow-haired boy trailed off, chuckling slightly to himself.
"What is it?"
"She's was the first person to believe in me. How stupid was I to forget that?
