Chapter 19: No Hell like Helga scorned

Helga was back! I felt guilty for hating her and thinking that she had deserted us. But that’s what we do as human, ‘we build mental prisons,’ as Manual would say. When faced with uncertainty we opt for the negative. Helga was in Hell for a while and, in my oblivion, I cursed her two-fold.

‘What happened in your absence?’ I asked her.

‘They obviously couldn’t take over with someone like me as a threat to them, so they got to me first,’ she summed up.

We were headed towards the Throne of Hell which was queened by Satane Santa.

‘She’s not there,’ said Helga.

‘How do you know?’ challenged Ngi ‘she brought us here.’

‘This is not a movie where the boss dies in the end,’ returned Helga.

‘She’s not there,’ confirmed Calypso. Her timing was impeccable. We couldn’t quarrel amongst ourselves with our biggest battle to come.

‘Then what’s ahead?’ asked Anastasia.

‘It’s easy actually. Helga is going to scorch the demons there, and then we are going to free the children and have the ultimate battle with the rebels,’ said Calypso.

That’s exactly what happened. When we reached our destination, Helga, now with her ability back, turned supernova and completely smoked the demons. Compared to the other demons, these demons were made to look useless. Her anger just couldn’t be contained. Her eyes were a dark orange blended with blood red. The demons were well done and the floors of Hell began to quake. With the quake, the cells broke open, the walls fell down, and the chamber collapsed upon itself. We returned to find the surviving children and left Hell to implode.

Inside the shaft, a spacious shaft, we sat back in relief and looked at each other.

‘What about the liars in the Belly?’ asked I ‘I saw none?’

‘That’s the point,’ said Calypso. There’s probably more to this that Manual can explain. Maybe you should ask him.

‘Hades is up there,’ said Ngi looking at me.

‘He’s not human,’ said Calypso.

When we reached the summit we found that it was night. A full moon was about. Gosh, it was nice to see natural light and anything that wasn’t in Hell. Hades was an unpleasant exception but he was not there. The children rushed out of the shaft.

‘Don’t touch the Gates!’ warned Helga. But it was in vain. Hell’s Gates were touched and a grotesque beast of demonic and diabolical proportions was about us.
