If you had won a killing game, you stayed on the show until you died. Because of this, families tended to be the only ones to know about the fact that the participant's personalities were changed. When the survivors were freed, their families didn't want them around anymore and practically disowned them. Also, because they ended danganronpa, the majority of the world hated them, as it was their only joy. They would've been better off if Kiibo killed them.
