Chapter five: lizards, robots, and Changelings oh my

-Alphys's lab-

When Kurse entered the lab he noted two things. One, it was pitch black, and two, it frickin reeked. (This isn't a very good first impression of the current Royal scientist...) the Changeling thought, he then looked at a screen and saw Frisk on it. "Oh okay that's not creepy at all, no totally fine..." he whispered sarcastically, Kurse then heard the sound of a door opening, thankfully Kurse's night vision had kicked in and saw-to his surprise-another familiar face. (So she's the Royal scientist now?) He thought, (So many familiar faces these days.) Suddenly the lights turned on forcing Kurse to shield his eyes. (Just roll with it...) the lizard then walked face first- literally-into Kurse and fell on her behind, "Ow..." she groaned, before looking up at Kurse who had a raised eye socket, immediately jumping up almost out of her skin, Alphys started freaking out. "Oh my god!" She panicked, "I-I wasn't e-expecting visitors! I haven't cleaned, I'm barely dressed, an-" Kurse then started laughing like he heard the funniest joke of his life. "Easy doc." He said, "You look fine...you've definitely moved up in the world Alphys, when I last saw you, you were a hatchling with a dream, now look at you, the Royal scientist." Alphys's eyes widened as her visitor became more and more familiar to her, she then remembered and damn near tackled Kurse hugging her friend and mentor. "Kurse!" She exclaimed happily, "It's so good to see you again!" "Likewise." Kurse replied returning the hug, a few minutes later Kurse and Alphys were joined by a very happy Frisk. "So how'd it go kid?" Kurse asked Frisk, 'She and I had a blast!' They signed, 'Undyne was quite nice, she told me you trained her.' Kurse rubbed the back of his neck. "Well...mostly." he admitted, "Now who wants so-...does anyone else smell elbowgrease?" Alphys then went wide eyed as a clang was heard. "Oh no..." she squeaked, then a mechanical rectangle burst through the wall, and was almost punted through the holes it made by an on-edge Kurse. [OHHHH YESSSSS.] The machine said, [ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF, I AM METTATON, ACTOR EXTRAORDINAIRE.] "And scrap pile extraordinaire if you pull that shit again!" Kurse growled, "Now why are you here minus the jumpscare!?" [NOW NOW, THAT WOULD SPOIL THE FUN!] Mettaton said, Kurse then used Analyze on it. 'Mettaton, 8 atk, 999 def, ?LV, ?hp, don't trust this machine, it holds many secrets within it.' "It's obvious you want Frisk's Determination Soul." Kurse said lowly, "Sadly, you won't be getting it." A FIGHT started. Frisk read the text 'Kurse defends you' and smiled, while they didn't want to kill, they were proud of Kurse that he didn't kill monsters. Chara was an exception, Kurse then launched a volley of Blood Spears at Mettaton who fired lasers to intercept. Both attacks canceled each other out. Kurse's attack then suddenly rose. 'Kurse's atk went up, Kurse's def went up.' Was what Frisk read on the text screen, they then used Check on Kurse. 'Kurse, 70 atk, 70 def, somehow he got stronger and tougher.' Kurse then launched Bone Blades and Blood Spears together and landed two Critical hits on Mettaton, before Kurse hit the MERCY button Sparing Mettaton. "We're done here..." Kurse said, "Look, Mettaton was it? You seem like an okay bot, so I'll let you off easy, see you around." [YES ADIEU, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!] Mettaton then used it's jet thruster and flew away. Kurse then looked around at Alphys's lab and held back a snicker. "Still watching Mew Mew Kissy Cutey Alphys?" Kurse asked, "Y-yeah, I like it..." Alphys said shyly, "You know, undermasins are probably making an Everything Wrong with the second one by now." Kurse said, "I heard it was shite..." Alphys chuckled. "It really was." She said, Kurse then saw the photo of him, Alphys and Undyne and smiled as memories of back then returned to him. "So Alph..." Kurse said, "You confessed to Undyne yet?" Alphys's face turned the shade of Frisk's Soul and the human mentally pumped their fist in the air. "K!" Alphys whined, suddenly a realization hit her. "Wait a second you can understand Sign now!? Since when!?" "Since well...forever." Kurse answered, "My sister, Auriel was mute and had to speak in Sign language, so I learned pretty quick...so did Dust." Kurse's attitude changed from happy and calm to that of pain and loss. "So, where are your brother and sister?" Alphys asked, she was quite hesitant to ask. "Dust is dead, and Auriel...well I don't know, I'm hoping she's still alive but...I'm not getting my hopes up." 'I'm sure she is.' Frisk signed trying to make their friend feel better, 'I'll help you find her!' Kurse wiped a tear from his eye and smiled widely. "You really are the best friend a guy like me could ask for Frisk, thank you." He said gratefully, "Alphys, we're trying to get to the Capital from here, can you help your old teacher out, for old times sake?" Alphys smiled "You don't even have to ask!" She said confidently, after upgrading Frisk's Phone the pair set off, unaware of Flowey stalking them like a viper stalking prey. "I'm ready for round two Changeling." He said darkly, "Soon you'll see things Chara's way, in this world...it's kill or be killed!"

Yeah Flowey and Chara are working together. As always comment rate and leave advice so I can improve, next time Kurse and Frisk encounter Mettaton again and later Flowey!

(I think this song enbodies Kurse perfectly! He was betrayed by Chara, his family was slaughtered, his vengeful reckoning, and his high LV due to reasons that will be made apparent in a sequel story, and witnessing Asriel's murder by Chara twenty years ago ending in his 'death'.)
