We hurry to her car and race to the gym, which only took us less then 10 minutes.
When she parks I sprint inside. When the automatic doors open I see the instructor standing in the middle of a circle made by 6 other girls. They all turned to look at me.
"Late again?" The coach asked.
"I'm sorry." I apologize.
"Sorry doesn't cut it. Go change."
I nod and head to the change rooms down a hall on the right.
I take off my skinny jeans, blue shirt, and sweater and put on my yoga pants, and a grey tank top. Then I quickly put my long hair in a sloppy bun. I could care less about my hair.
But the whole time I could hear the voices, but they didn't bother me. I feel like I always hear them, but they're either unbearable, or bearable.
After I finish in there I use a door that goes straight to the gym. The girls where warming up and stretching.
I decide to do some cartwheels and flips to warm up then stretch.
Even though I suck really bad in school, I'm the best here. The other girls are jealous sometimes. I don't mean to make them jealous. I just want to be better here then at school.
Even when I have episodes they actually try to do something. The coach likes me, but when I have the episodes she's like, "What are you doing that for!?"
Like I'm doing it on purpose.
But here, I feel like I belong. But the only reason I'm here is so that I can stay busy. I feel if I'm doing something, the voices don't bother me so much. Once and a while they do get to me.
I finish stretching and the coach calls us over.
"The Senior Gymnastics Championship is coming up. I want all of you to do your best these couple of days because only 2 of you are going."
Murmurs fill the air.
Only 2 of us!?
I heard some girls whisper from the right of me, "Of course Luna's going. Why even bother?"
I clench my fists. That is so not true.
"Girls! The Competition is focusing on the balance beam and the bars. Now we're lucky. Everyone can practice on one then switch. Now get practicing."
We all turn and go.
"Luna. Can I talk to you?"
Oh no. What did I do?
I stop and turn back to her. I walk forward until I'm a few feet away from her.
"I will expecting you to make it. But you are good, but I have worries."
"I know." I agree.
"If these "voices" become a problem, you won't be going."
"What!?" I exclaim.
"I'm sorry, but I don't want you to get hurt."
I can't believe this!? I might not be going.
"I promise it won't become a problem." I tell her.
"I hope not. Now go."
I nod and walk away. This is awful.
I see a balance beam open and I head there. I take a deep breath and get on. I balance myself before I do anything, and I take another deep breath while I close my eyes.
"Save us!"
"Please help us!"
I can hear them faintly. I open my eyes and cartwheel over the beam. When I'm at the end I stand on my hands and hold.
