Luke's POV
I jerked awake, my eyes trying to get used to the harsh sunlight filtering through the window. I groaned. I hated mornings with a burning passion.
I began to rollover, and I hadn't realized I was so close to the edge, so I landed face first on the ground.
Umph! What the hell?
I shakily got up from the ground, and saw that I fell off the couch. Why hadn't I slept on my bed?
I looked over at my bed and frowned. It was neatly made, and there was a piece of paper on the pillow.
I went over and picked up the note. One glimpse at the words and suddenly everything from last night came back to me.
I was walking home. I saw a boy, Ashton, about to jump off the bridge I was crossing. I stopped him. And I let him stay the night.
I scrubbed angrily at my face. How could I forget about that? My eyes traveled back to the note. His handwriting was neat and actually legible, I noticed, unlike mine.
I sat down on my bed and began to read:
Dear Luke,
Sorry I couldn't stay long enough to say goodbye face to face. But, maybe I'll see you again sometime. Hopefully it won't be as emotional as last night.
I don't think I can thank you enough for letting me stay at your place. Thanks for not killing me in my sleep, like you promised! Wow I'm even weird and awkward in my writing. So yeah you're really amazing and I hope we can meet each other again.
P.S. I think you'd like the book The Fault in Our Stars, it's really good.
P.S.S sorry for sounding extremely nerdy.
P.S.S.S sorry I apologize so much.

I found myself smiling like an idiot while reading Ashton's note. I only met the guy yesterday, but it feels like I've known him forever. Before I could go deeper into my thoughts, my eyes widened at the time.
It was already 9:30 AM! Usually I'm out in town by 8. I sighed. Maybe I could take a day off from performing today. I practically am my own boss, I guess.
And with that, I slowly carried out my morning routine: a big bowl of Cheerios, randomly strumming my guitar in between, and fixing my hair and getting dressed.
Once I got my hair to look right, I began to pace around the room. What should I do now? I already screwed up my schedule. So why not screw it up even more? I smirked to myself as I picked up the note Ashton left me. The Fault in Our Stars, huh? I was never into books, really, but if Ashton thinks I'd like it then maybe it'll be the only book I'll read from beginning to end.
I grabbed a coat and slipped on my shoes, and locked the door behind me.

Ashton's POV
"Michael! You have four overdue books!" I scolded my only friend, Michael, who is always in the library reading about video game cheats. He smiled sheepishly.
"I kind of um...lost them?" I sighed in disapproval.
"You're lucky I haven't charged you money yet." Michael laughed evilly and ran to the fiction section. His black and purple hair helped me keep on eye on him, since he stood out when there was other people here.
I giggled to myself. People like Michael really made working in a library even more fun, although I would still love being here regardless. I loved everything about books; they all have different stories to tell, they can take you to worlds you've never been to before, and they help people realize the power of words. Words, words, words.
I glanced back at my computer screen and exited out of Michael's page. There weren't many people here yet, besides Michael and I, so I began to spin around in my chair.
I swear I'm not a little kid! It's just really fun to do!
Suddenly, I heard someone clear their throat. I grabbed on to the desk and stopped myself, blushing.
"I'm really sorry I--oh my god." It's him. Luke's piercing blue eyes locked with mine as he smirked at me. Maybe if he didn't have a lip ring and didn't wear leather jackets then I wouldn't be so flustered. Actually, maybe if he wasn't so attractive then this would all be so much easier. My cheeks heated up even more and I silently prayed he didn't notice me staring at him. I also hoped Michael wasn't watching.
"You don't have to apologize, babe." He winked at me, and I felt my heart speed up. Based on yesterday I wouldn't think he was very flirty, but I guess we both weren't ourselves that night...
"I'm sorr--I, uh--" I stuttered on every word. He knew he had an effect on me, and I wanted to melt through the floor. Luke chuckled, and set a book down on the desk.
"I want to read this." I picked up the book and blushed.
"You actually read the note I left?" He nodded and smiled softly, his flirtatious side fading away.
"I actually don't read very much, but you suggested The Fault in Our Stars, so I thought I'd give it a chance." I blushed even more.
"I hope you don't mind that it's very sad and romantic." I looked up at him questionably, and Luke just shrugged.
"I don't mind." He dug into the pocket of his black skinny jeans and pulled out a library card. I raised my eyebrows. I didn't expect him to have one. I decided not to bother him about it, so I reached over and was about to take the card from him, but my hand sprung back when our fingers brushed. My cheeks felt hot as he muttered "sorry" and bit his lip.
I checked out the book for him and handed it back, but I panicked when my sleeve rolled down. Luke didn't seem to notice as I quickly pulled it back up. He didn't need to see that. He didn't need to know. He's already seen too much. Luke running into me last night was a mistake.
What I had planned to do was not, however.
Luke's voice snapped me out of my thoughts,
"I have to go, but I hope I'll see you again." I just nodded and smiled.
"Yeah, me too." Luke flashed me his signature half smile, and left with a book in hand.
I felt mushy and fuzzy. My heart is melting, I think. My cheeks are a permanent shade of red, and I wanted to smile, I wanted to cry, scream and laugh all at the same time. My stomach was churning; I feel like I'm going to be sick.
Is this what love feels like?
