Hi!
Sorry that I have not been able to post since coming back to college so I thought I'd share some little snippets of things I've been working on for my creative writing class. Some of these are canon and some are not, also I will say there are some spoilers. Well maybe not, I haven't fully decided. But please check them out below c:
Basically, for this assignment, we wrote two scenes using the same dialogue. The first scene is of Jacques and Ava around the age of 30 while the second is them at 10 and 13. Enjoy!
We sat among the ruins outside the city, stone crumbled under my feet with ancient runes decorating the half-standing walls. I could read some of the old scrawlings. Chief, country, dragon...All the words changed with the languages of the time, but they were the oldest writings of my people outside of Dragon's Meadow. It was strange to say, my people. I no longer ruled Dannamore alone but an aged race of proud people. The irony in the whole situation is how easily the King fit into our world, a world he was never meant to enter. His house of birth wasn't one of the Just Houses. Of course, neither was mine, but I had the dragons. I was an alien allowed to lead. How would fate answer the question of the King of Lyier?
Fate. We had a God of Fate. She was said to be beautiful with an evil heart. A trickster. People compared me to her, now. I found her gaze among the ruins, even time couldn't destroy all Gods, just like Kings. Luckily, I sat with a king. My husband.
"Avalon," His eyes were lifeless as he stared forward. I used to be able to read him, but now I couldn't. Had time changed his this month? Smooth hands curled into my own as he said, "I can't allow you to go to Dragon's Meadow. It's a violation of the crown."
"I'm a Queen of both Lyier and the Great and Just Houses. Dragon's Meadow falls under my domain, I have every right," I snatched my hand away as I stood. Tiny stones crunching under my bare feet. The birds stopped singing, a rare stillness in the country settling between us. The God of Fate watching over us.
"And I am your King-"
I turned shoving him as I yelled, "You are not and will not ever be my king! I will go to Dragon's Meadow if I have to kill you myself. The people love me and let us not forget your last name." Every word left a sour taste in my mouth. I hated to fight with him but he had to understand this was for his safety.
"Do it because I will do everything in my power to stop you," he said. His eyes conveyed desperation, but I knew better. They only told me he was capable of deception. Jacques was no longer the man I fall in love with under the apple trees during the warming spring.
Fate pitted us against one another. Time pushed us to our limits. Our power pulled us in opposite directions.
"If you loved me once then you'll allow me to do this."
"I did once."
"Avalon," Jacques said as he jumped down from the tree branch above me. A wooden sword coming down to connect with my throat. His moppy red hair falling down into his eyes. With a smirk, he mockingly told me, "I can't allow you to go to Dragon's Meadow. It's a violation of the crown." It was a game we'd played as children. Now that I was ten, I was no longer a child and had no need for such things. Turning back to my book, I could only roll my eyes. It seemed my friend didn't have the same ideas.
Jacques pulled his sword away from my throat, gently using it to poke my rib cage as he wiggled his eyebrows for me to play along. He was stubborn, to say the least. I knew he wouldn't stop until I gave into him.
Still reading my book, I said, "I'm a Queen of both Lyier and the Great and Just Houses. Dragon's Meadow falls under my domain, I have every right."
Jacques didn't seem pleased with my answer as he huffed. He plopped down next to me, tugging at the grass. In the spring, the gardeners didn't focus as much on the upkeep of the back castle gardens so it had grown quite long. Moving my eye from the pages of the book, I watched as the prince fastened a grass crown. Once he finished his handy-work, I snatched the crown from him as I placed it on top of my head. Running away from him, he shouted, "And I am your King-"
Turning on my heel, I said, "You are not and will not ever be my king! I will go to Dragon's Meadow if I have to kill you myself. The people love me and let us not forget your last name." I stuck out my tongue as he tried to catch up with me. Taking shelter behind one of the apple trees, I took in deep breaths. Jacques would never find me here.
Speaking too soon, his head popped around a branch as he said, "Do it because I will do everything in my power to stop you." He took the crown from my head, fastening it upon his red curls.
Thinking of my parents, I wondered if they ever had moments like these. Did they ever play games with one another? It was fun imagining to be a queen. Of course, it seemed far too much to handle. I never envied Queen Cora, she always seemed tired.
Thinking of my one of my parents' conversations, I said, "If you loved me once then you'll allow me to do this."
To my surprise, Jacques said, "I did once."
For this next little bit we had to do a dating profile on a character so here are some random things about Ava you may not know. Btw, these are all canon.

If you're a member of the ruling patriarchy, please look elsewhere. My life goal is to take it down because who runs the world? Women, that's who. I'm a Duchess so I already have more power than you could ever hope for anyway.
A list of things I don't like:
The King
Dogs
Tea
The color blue
Clingy people (get off your ass and do it yourself)
Any type of sport outside of training dragons, which is a sport thanks to me
Horseback riding
My family is the most important thing to me as well as my friends. I will always put them first in my life, so I apologize in advance. I also love my people dearly and will protect them with my own life. So I value loyalty. Loyalty to me equals a good life.
