School is approaching slowly but surely. School starts Monday, it's Friday. I'm so nervous, starting school in a complete foreign town, with people I don't even know. Not to mention being an upper classman which puts on more stress.
Last minute school shopping with Helen and Gabe was so much faster than the time before. I got what I needed and we left, simple as that. Almost. That gorgeous blonde boy from before was there again. I mean, I know he works there an all, but still. I get so distracted every time I come in his presence.
Helen and Gabe don't know that I'm gay. Only a few people do, the only ones I could trust. That's my mom of course, Heather and a few of my friends back in the city. I just don't feel like I need to tell anybody else. Especially where I'm in a small town. If I did that it would most likely be the new headline for the year. 'City boy and student of Red Hook High School is GAY!'
So that's not even an option to tell them or anyone for that matter.
Back at the house Gabe starts to make dinner. Lasagna, with garlic bread, Caesar salad, and sweet tea. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Honesty, it's nice living in a place where there's always dinner, not just dinner but hot, fulfilling dinner.
"Hey it's Friday right?" I ask knowing the answer.
"Yeah it is why?" Helen responds.
"Oh, well I just thought-well cause you know, the family pizza night." I whisper. I wasn't mad or anything but I was kinda looking forward to it.
"Ah, shoot, Philip I'm so sorry, I completely forgot." Gabe says as he starts to put the food away.
"Oh, no that's ok. We can eat this you already made it." I say smiling sitting down at the table.
"Ok. Are you sure?"
"Yea. My stomach is set on this, now that I see it." I chuckle out taking my seat.
Tonight is still kinda like family night, minus the pizza. We talked about Gabes job, how the animals were doing, Helen's job, you know of what she could tell us. All she said was things with petty theft. And of course school. Seems like that subject always comes up.
Even though I've only been here for a week, I feel like this is what 'family' is supposed to feel like. Meaning, having family dinners every night and talking about how everyone's day was. This is just something I wish I could have had with my mom.
But this week has been fun. Gabe took us all horse back riding, made amazing dinners, and took me shopping, more than once. I actually love to shop, going to the mall and buy whatever, that sounds amazing.

Saturday I woke up like any other day. Showered before they woke up, got dressed and waited in my room; Just sitting there waiting for some sweet smell of food to seep through my vents again. But it didn't come. So I walked out my room to find Helen and Gabe at the kitchen table with keys in hand.
"What's going on?" I ask unsure.
"Nothing we just waited for you to wake up so we could leave." Helen responded.
"Leave where?" I say frowning.
"We decided to go to breakfast this morning." Gabe says smiling getting up from the table.
"Ok."
Driving down the rode Gabe speaks again "I hope you don't mind Philip, but I invited the Waldenbecks."
"Who?"
"Lukas and his dad Bo. I wanted you to get to know Lukas. So you have at least someone you know whose going to the same school."
