i took out my crumbled up schedule and walked through the crowded halls. everyone was talking to their friends, loving on their man and here i am...

i was heading to my assigned locker for the year and i bumped into someone.

"aaliyah, wassup babydoll." a familiar voice said

"hi, shazam." i smiled lowly, not really in the mood to talk.

"can i see your schedule?" he asked

"here." i said, handing it to him.

he examined it and smiled widely "we got lunch and last period together."

"that's dope." i responded softly as my eyes landed on his twin brother. he walked up to shazam & spoke.

"pebs is driving me half way crazy." he sighed, showing how annoyed his was

"this damn early?" shazam complained "babydoll, i'll see you later." he said as he handed me my schedule back.

i read my locker number again and walked to the e wing. i put all of
my supplies in there, since i already agreed to sleep every period away.

i walked into music class and sat in the back. this may be the only class i do stay awake in. i observed the class and someone tapped me. it was a pretty light skinned girl, with short hair.

"excuse me, hi i'm halle." she began as she stuck her hand out for me to shake.

i slowly shook it and let go. as she continued to talk i noticed she had an accent.

"i wanted to know if we had any classes together..i'm scared to talk to anyone else. you seem nice." she smiled at me, showing her teeth.

"well." i said as i read her schedule "we have every class together except physics, since i didn't take that." i told her

"thank god." she said as she sat down next to me "i have someone to walk with...what's your name?"

"aaliyah." i said blandly

"can i call you lili? back in augusta everyone had nicknames no one used their real names..." she said, taking out some gum and eating it.

i just nodded and focused on the teacher, who was about to begin teaching.

i ran to my first period. i damn near tripped and fell two times already. fucking around with pebbles in the janitors closet, got me late already.

i practically fell into the door & everyone eyes landed on me.

"you must be mr. keven connor." the music teacher said "late already." she said, shaking her head "take a seat."

i heard snickers coming from kids as i walked to the back of the class and sunk into my seat. before i put my head down, i looked at aaliyah.
