The first thing Mitch saw when he walked out of school was Scott Hoying already sitting on his motorcycle. Mitch didn't think he should be paying as much attention to Scott as he did, but whenever he saw the blonde, he couldn't help but let his mind wander.
There were so many rumors surrounding him that no one knew what was fact or fiction.
There were rumors that his parents had died a few years ago. Other smarter people claimed that he had simply moved out once he turned 18. More rumors said that his childhood was hell. Regardless of the situation with his parents, that would make sense. But if that was true, he never said a word about it.
One thing that was a known fact about Scott was that he always stood up for himself and didn't care what others said. There had been plenty of instances where he would talk back to teachers as if it were second nature to him. There was also a few stories about Scott finding people talking about him and him simply walking up and joining in on the conversation. Mitch always wanted to see him do that.
Scott was always one of the first guys outside of the school building, people once again claiming he ditched classes all the time. However, from the class or two he had with the blonde, Mitch knew that he at least cared a bit about his grades.
Another thing that was rumored about was his motorcycle. Mitch wasn't sure how there could be speculation surrounding a motorcycle, but it was Scott, and it was high school.
That being said, it wasn't all of the rumors that made Mitch interested in Scott. Sure the rumors brought some entertainment into his normal life, but it wasn't it. It was the lack of parents in his life. It was the ability to stand up for himself. It was the freedom to leave whenever he wanted and go wherever he wanted to.
All of that temped Mitch to no end.
He had grown up with practically the exact opposite upbringing as Scott's rumored one.
His parents were there, always there. They may have been loving, but their overprotectiveness far overshadowed any other good qualities about them. They haven't let him do things like go to any of the sporting events, dances, nor have they let him get his driver's license. The only time he was without his parents watching over him was in school, and even then, he was required to come straight home after school. Maybe in another world Mitch would have understood their reasoning, but definitely not this one.
In the midst walking towards the long line of busses outside of the school and simultaneously trying to watch Scott, Mitch bumped into a group of students. He was quick to mutter an apology, but then just kept walking.
"Hey!"
He immediately looked towards the group of people he had just run into, but he quickly realized they weren't the ones who called him.
Mitch looked back at Scott, but his eyes went wide when he saw Scott staring at him. Mitch stopped dead in his tracks as Scott looked him up and down. "Want a ride?" Mitch tried to open his mouth to reply with something, but Scott spoke up first. "I promise I don't bite."
Mitch looked back towards the busses and specifically at the one he knew he needed to get on.
"Take it or leave it," Mitch heard again. He looked back to Scott, and against his better judgement, started walking towards the blonde.
"Mitch, right?" Scott asked once Mitch was a few yards away. He nodded his head. "Am I takin' you home?" All Mitch could do was nod his head again. "How quickly are you lookin' to get there?"
"Whenever the bus gets there."
"We're faster than it."
"No," Mitch suddenly said. Scott raised an eyebrow. "Sorry. No. I need to be home when it gets there."
It was Scott's turn to open his mouth to say something, but he quickly closed his mouth. His eyes stayed on Mitch for a moment or two for reasons he didn't know. It made Mitch feel slightly uneasy, so he simply turned to look at the motorcycle. However, he could still feel eyes on him. After what felt like hours of silence, Scott spoke up again.
"We got some time to kill then. Can I stop and get you a coffee or something?"
No. His parents would find the cup, and he would have to find a way to get out of the inevitable mess.
But he was already this far gone. What was giving in to a little more temptation?
Mitch looked back up to Scott, and was a bit taken aback to see some concern in his eyes. Mitch didn't think anything of it though; he just blurted out the first answer that came to mind.
"Yeah." And then Scott smiled, and Mitch instantly didn't care about any consequences that he might face.
