COLE'S POV:

I knew her voice the minute she said his name, and out of instinct I immediately moved closer to Louis and grabbed onto his arm.

"Ouch!"

"I'm sorry, I just... I can't be near her." I whispered back. Louis nodded to me and moved so that he was in front blocking Lillian's sight to me. I must remember to thank him later maybe when he had forgotten how strange i had acted. My head was spinning and I knew that I there was no way that would happen. I would have some questions to answer to later tonight night as to why I was almost ripping Lou's arm off.

"Cole? Cole Mura?"

I felt like ice was running through my veins as she moved forward to embrace me in a hug. Louis looked confused as if he wasn't sure he should let the girl touch me. As usual she smelt like her sickly perfume and was caked in so much makeup I was sure if she walked into the sunlight her face would melt.

I didn't return her hug but instead felt my body go rigid beneath her. Soon enough we said goodbyes and headed towards the car. She had said that her family was here on a holiday but I knew that there was more to it. there's always more to it.

I couldn't look at any of the boys through the ride and most of the dinner at the restaurant. I answered only a couple of questions and I barely ate anything, but then again that was usual for me.

I could feel Louis focused on my every move as I shuffled my food around the plate.

The waiter brought out a massive white birthday cake full of sparklers and I plastered a fake smile onto my face. I hoped that no-one would notice seeing as they were mostly all drunk.

It was around 3 in the morning when Liam finally managed to drag everyone home and to bed. He helped me set out a mattress on Zayn's floor and thought it best that we have some personal space considering I would be living with them all for four weeks.

"I don't want you two getting sick of each other so soon, you only just arrived so I'll sort you out the spare room tomorrow night."

I laughed and thanked him, before shooing him from the room so that I could get changed into my pj's.

My bed was so cozy and warm and I fell asleep straight away with the help of all the mojitos I had sunk that night.

It was the last day of grade 10 at Tong High School, and I was walking alongside Grace and Zayn to class talking about how we were going to drive to the X-Factor auditions to show our support. Lillian walked up and threw herself on Zayn as I and Grace made gagging noises. The teachers soon broke them up and we took our seats in class.

"Silent, work now class, That's you Mr Malik."

I looked at Zayn who was busy humming the tune of "Let Me Love You" practicing for his X-Factor audition. He was always getting in trouble in school, either he wasn't listening or was doing something else when we was supposed to be working.

I awoke with a start and looked to see Zayn asleep in his bed, clothes thrown everywhere. My head was killing me and I knew it was a bad idea to drink so much. I groaned and slowly got up to find some asprin. I walked down that stairs into the kitchen and rifled threw the cupboards when a voice startled me.

"So what was up with you last night?"

"Ah, Louis you scared me." I clutched my chest pretending to be having a heart attack. I glanced at the clock to see 5:45.

"C'mon Cole I know something's up, you were tearing my arm off."

I looked at Louis and took a seat on one of the bar stool's around the island in the kitchen.

"It started when Zayn auditioned for X-Factor..." I began.

"She-She blamed me. Said that if it wasn't for me they would still have been going out, that it was all my fault."

"What was your fault?"

"When Zayn started going out with that girl, Rebecca, in the X-Factor house. She said he had promised her they would be together after the X-Factor no matter what and that I.. That I," I started to tear up and couldn't look him in the eyes anymore.

"Cole, Cole It's ok." He moved towards me and rubbed my back comfortingly. "That you what?"

I managed to compose myself and looked up at him once more, mascara running down my cheeks from the night before, "That I deserved everything I got."

His face dropped when he realised what I meant. "How did it happen?"

"Well, I was walking back from the movies from Grace right after people had found out about Rebecca and Zayn. She cornered me in the park about a block from my house and started yelling and screaming at me. I tried to calm her down but then she started to hit me and wouldn't stop."

I took a break from talking and looked at my hands that were shaking violently.

"She kept screaming at me and hitting me, I couldn't stop her."

He moved around the counter and hugged me tight. "Don't worry Cole, I won't let her near you. I promise!"

He didn't realise how much I needed that, he felt like the older brother that I never had. I had never told anyone the last part of this story and I didn't fell like now was the right time.

"You can't tell anyone this Louis,"

"I pinky promise."

He held out his hand and I wrapped my pink around his before finally taking a a drink of water and swallowing the asprin.
