‘’I like this one. Ooo! No this one! Wait, what about this one!’’
I started to feel mesmerised by all the beautiful dresses. Ben and I’s wedding was in a months’ time and I was currently attempting to go dress shopping with my new found friend, Tina, who is also Ben’s sister. We met after the day Ben proposed and instantly became friends. She’s so energetic, which I great because if I ever get tired, I can count on Tina to liven me up.
‘’I agree, try them all!’’ The shop assistant shoved them into my arms and pushed me into a changing room.
I slipped off my clothes and pulled on the first dress. It was a little too…big for my liking. It was like a classic fairy-tale princess dress, puffy and meringue-like at the bottom. I walked out, the girls smiled, but shook their heads.
‘’Too…puffy,’’ Tina scrunched up her nose.
I nodded in agreement and tried on the second one. The one was less puffy around the bottom, but the whole thing was skin tight. I could barely walk. Despite it looking stunning on the hanger, the girls and I decided that this dress was a no-no.
The third dress, I felt excited as I tried it on. It was a strapless corset at the top, that gently flowed down into a floaty bottom, that was puffy, but not too puffy. It was embedded with diamonds and I instantly fell in love when I saw myself in it. Grinning, I pushed aside the curtains and Tina and the shop assistant gasped. Tina ran and hugged me, whispering ‘’This is the one,’’ into my ear. I smiled, and settled on it. I paid, thanking the assistant and we headed out to find a coffee shop.
‘’I can’t wait to see you on the wedding day, you’re going to look stunning’’ Tina said, sipping her coffee.
‘’Thanks, so will you don’t forget! I’m not having my maid of honour looking less gorgeous than me!’’ I grinned.
‘’Aw, come on!’’
‘’We gotta stop meeting like this!’’ I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders and heard Dallon’s voice. I smiled and stood up to hug him.
‘’Hey there,’’ He hugged back and kissed my head.
I pulled him down next to me in the booth. Tina stared at us both awkwardly and I laughed as Dallon took a bite out of my cake.
‘’Tina, this is Dallon, a very old and close friend of mine.’’
‘’Hi! I’m Tina’’ She waved, smiling at Dallon who waved back, stuffing his face with my cake.
‘’So, how’s the wedding plans going?’’
‘’Great. Tina just helped me pick out the dress actually,’’
‘’I can’t wait to see you in it! Wait, I am coming to the wedding, right?’’
‘’Course, you idiot!’’ I slapped his arm and Tina stood up, excusing herself to use the bathroom.
‘’So, how’s…Brendon and everyone?’’
‘’Brendon’s okay, he’s writing a lot more now. He still really misses you, I don’t think he’s over the fact that you’re not coming home. I don’t want to ruin everything, but he didn’t speak to anyone the day we saw you in the hotel,’’
I sighed and rested my chin on my hands. Brendon was a huge part of my life, but I didn’t know how I felt. The way I felt with Ian, was the same feelings I had with Ben. That’s how I know I love him. But Brendon? He’s different. It’s not the same feelings and I don’t know what to make of them.
‘’Everything’s going to be fine, don’t worry about it honey,’’
Dallon draped an arm around my shoulders. I sighed. I damn well hope you’re right Weekes.
