Lament, feeling somewhat better than before, slowly awoke, to the murmur of three voices. He recognized them.

“We were walking on the beach and just found him laying there.” A yielding nervous voice stated.

“He would’ve been fine if we had left him where we found him, who knows, he was probably just sobering up!” the tsundere voice scowled.

Slowly opening his eyes, he tried to lean forward, but couldn’t. He shook and struggled until he caught sight of a rope that was being used to tie him down, he wanted to scream but he was gagged. Autumn was sitting at the foot of the bed, legs crossed, a notepad in one hand.

“The ropes are to make sure you don’t try run away again.*takes off glasses and starts wiping them* However, the gag was not my idea.” She looked toward Shishi accusingly.

Laments eyes slowly drifted across the room to a bunny like creature with beige puff balls on the tips of her ears and a large one covering what looked like her waist. Upon eye contact she looked down, as if shy.

“We’re just gonna ask you a couple of questions. Answer them as calmly as possible, kay’.” She said with an assuring smile. Lament nodded, and Shishi took out his gag.

“Where are you from?"

“Oh! That’s easy! I live in… I live…” that’s when the fear shot up his spine, he found himself unable to remember any crucial details about his life.

“I’m waiting…”

“…I can’t just give away that kind of information.”

“Huh? Hey now…”

“You can’t trust people nowadays.” He claimed looking down to the corner of his eyes. Autumn noticed this behavior.

“Fine. Do you remember how you ended up on the beach?”

“Ugh, no. All I know is that I woke up on the beach; my whole body was aching and I couldn’t get up for shit.”

“Interesting, one more question. Anybody could get this right.” At this, point, her and the others grew suspicious.

He widened his eyes and was ready.

“What is your name?” she says pulling down her glasses.

He sank in the bed and thought for several minutes.

“(Lorry? No. Leonard? Ugh! NO! Lyra? NO, NO, that’s a girl’s name? Is it?”

“(What’s taking this boy so long…)”

“(…uhhh)” At the last moment, he remembered. “Oh! Lament! That’s my name!”

“(This guy isn’t sober yet, I’m surprised he doesn’t have the munchies.)” Thought Shishi.

“…” autumn started to sweat and stare Lament.

“Autumn? Something wrong?”

“Huh? Oh, right, nope. Well why don’t we just let him rest, whatever he has will clear up soon.”

“Riiiight. Well seeya. Come on Ty.” The two left the room and went about their business.

Autumn slowly walked back a forth across room, not taking her eyes of Lament once. Her stare could burn a hole through concrete. Then she stopped and leaned in over his bed.

“Looks like you know our pain now human.” Laments eyes light up as he hears those words.

“How did you… yeah.”

“The first clue was simple, you show up out of nowhere, you can’t remember anything but your name. Then there’s that look in your eye, complete ignorance.”

“This has happened before?”

“It’s happened tons of times for different reasons.” She leans against the wall, arms crossed eyes closed.

“OH GREAT! THAT MEANS YOU CA-“

“I’m gonna stop you right there.” She walks up to him again, and flicks his nose. He flinches and holds it. “One, you’re stuck like that until you fulfill that purpose or die trying. Two, even if I could help you, I wouldn’t. Finally three, indoor voice please~”

“…you won’t help me?” Laments voice takes a depressed tone.

No mon’ in the right mind would help a human. They are terrible people, capturing us and making fight eachother just so they can make some walk around money. You’re lucky I haven’t unleashed the satanic anger that can erupt in ME.” the look on her face was no longer assuring. What had happened to the sweet caring nurse that took care of him earlier… she was completely devoured by the woman that stood before a flabbergasted Lament now.

“Well, maybe someone else can hel-“

Ohh no kid, you don’t wanna do that. If one person here found out you’re a human, you’ll get chased right outta town…” Lament didn’t say anything; he looked down, worried, wondering what he could do. He couldn’t think of anything. A sympathetic Autumn put down her guns to show a bit of heart to the boy. “*sigh*Look kid, I do have a heart, so I’ll do you one good. If you go to the biggest building near the center of this village, you can sign up to be in a guild. It’s the best paying job out there nowadays. You go there, you get badge, you make up a story, say your from the scorched plains or fell outta the sky or whatever, you just do whatever its takes to make sure no one finds out your human, got it?” he nodded. “I-if you ever need any advice, come back, but that doesn’t mean every five seconds. Now, get lost.”

“Not now you idiot!!! When your fully healed, don't you see yourself, your covered in bruises from the water!!” Lament turned to her, the look practically said, "I'm about to ask a stupid question." and he did.

"Water, hurts people?"

"GO TO FUCKING SLEEP!!!!"
