Rylie's POV

As I slowly regained consciousness, my eyes adjusted to the darkness, enabling me to vaguely make out the room I was in. Questions without answers quickly flocked around my brain, making me dizzy. Where am I? How did I get here? Slowly the events leading up to this unfortunate situation came back, making me even more confused. With my brain still slightly foggy I took in my surroundings, trying to make sense of it all. I looked around to see I was in a dimly lit room, bound to a hard wooden chair. As panic started to take over, I struggled to free myself, the ropes cutting painfully into my wrists. I continued to fight the rope, my wrists turning slick with blood, but to no avail; they were too tightly bound.

A door then opened, the light spilling into the dusky room. I looked up to see the man from the car step inside, flicking on the light. I was briefly blinded by the flood of light but quickly recovered to see the man walking towards me.

"Hello Rylie. It's been a while hasn't it? Thirteen years to be exact," he chuckled, "Do you remember me?"  I shook my head, my whole body trembling. "No? Interesting... Did you know that the mind subconsciously suppresses bad memories? It's really quite fascinating. But let me refresh your memory."

"Years ago I was in love with your mother, she was the woman I dreamed of every night, and the first thing I thought about in the morning. She was perfect to me. We were good friends and everything was going fine until your father come along and ruined everything," he said, bitterness lacing his words. "Yes, I saw with my own eyes how she slowly fell for that asshole, how he charmed her with cheesy love letters and chocolates. I can still remember her telling me of their first kiss together, a kiss that should have been mine! In time they got married and had a little baby girl; you. I watched with tied hands as the woman I loved slipped away from me. I still craved a woman though, and it was amusingly easy to get one. She was nothing to me; just someone to fill up the gap your mother left. I did however have a baby with her. So after she was born I did not need  that woman any longer and disposed of her. I still wanted your mother, and the only thing standing between us was your wretched father. I knew we would soon have the perfect family so I got rid of him. It was pathetically easy, he was shaking like a leaf before me. Everything would have gone to plan if it hadn't been for the police. They had already been on my case since the disposal of that pitiable woman and after your fathers death they finally arrested me. For thirteen years I sat in a filthy prison, biding my time. I began formulating a plan, and finally broke out. Now we will all be together and live happily ever after! The only one missing from this happy picture is your mother but when she hears you're here I'm sure she will come and then we will be together once more!" he laughed madly.

My head spun with all the new information; the missing pieces of my life finally came together. My father's death... My mother's indifferent behaviour towards me... And the person to blame stood right in front of me. Hate burned through my body, boiling my blood, but through this red haze of anger I still had one question: what is Heather's role in this?
