Ash X serena // one-shots // alola

A choice

ASH POV

nurse joy came running in with some water and paper towels.

"Hey what's wrong I heard screaming?" I asked.

She looked up and stopped running, she looked faint and tired, like she was in some sort of rush. Well, that's what doctors do I suppose.

"Um- I- have to go"

She runs off and goes into Serena's room. Me, being the curious so and so I am, decided to go and look. I open the door a crack and see nurse joy placing cold flannels on Serena's forehead. I walk in.

"Is she ok? What's going on?"

She hesitates and sits down.

"Ash, you know as we were giving Serena the jab." She asks leaning forward, slipping her gloves off

"Yeah"

"She forgot to tell us something."

"Forgot what?"

She sighs and falls back onto her chair.

"She forgot to tell us that she can only have jabs in her shoulder, not anywhere else."

"Yeah? So what? Jabs are normally in the shoulder area right?"

"Mostly yes, but this is different. We needed to use her hand to pump the nutrients in."

"Oh"

I hear Serena moaning and flipping around behind the curtain

"So, what happened?"

"She passed out, but, really badly," she stands up and pulls back the curtain, "she's really ill ash. Really ill. She could die."

Die? What do they mean die?! They must be exaggerating surely. Right? Right. She wouldn't die from a harmless jab. It's not possible. It can't be

"Unless," she faces me and holds my hand, " someone gives her blood. New blood. See, Serena can't have anything pumped into her. Not even anaesthetic! Her blood is very fragile so if any unknown substance goes in, her body freaks out and starts to fail. Unless she gets new blood-"

"I'll do it"

I was serious. Anything for her.

"Ash- are you sure?"

"Yes. Hook me up"

"Um ok then."

She leads me into another room with a bed and some monitors.

"Lye down"

I lye on the bed. I've gotta say, it's pretty comfy for a hospital bed! Good cushioning.

"Now, are you really sure?"

"Yes. Yes I am"
She rolls the bed back into Serena's room. She sticks a needle into Serena's arm and one in mine. The two wires are connected to a sort of pumping machine.

All of a sudden I start feeling dizzy. I look down and see reds flowing through the a tube and going into Serena's arm.

"Try not to look at it ash, it will make you worse."

I look away and stare at the flowers on the table next to me.

Looks like Serena's mum has already come for a visit.

"And it's done!" Nurse joy takes my needle out and places a cotton ball over the cut.

"Thanks nurse joy."

"It's no problem!" She takes Serena's out too, and does the same," she's going to be a lot better thanks to you!"

I beam with happiness,"I hope so!"

"Now, you have a little rest ok?"

She walks out of the room with the dirty equipment.

I turn to see Serena sweating and panting. I see her eyes slowly open.

"A-ash?"

"hey"

"what are you doing here?"

"Well, you needed blood so I gave you mine."

She blushed. God. She looks so beautiful, even if her mascara is smeared and her hair is scruffy.

"Thank you so much ash"

"We're starting high school tommorow."

"Oh my god," she jolts up,"I need to be there tommorow. I can't miss the first day back at high school!"

"You'll be better by morning, I promise."

Her face lit up and she smiles.

Nurse joy walks in with two glasses of water and hands them to us.

"Here. Ash, you need to stay really hydrated for the next 3 days ok? And Serena, you haven't had water since yesterday, you need to drink."

We both say,"thank you"

I drink some and place it on the table next to me. Serena does the same. She stretches and sits up.

She slides her sliders on and stands up.

"I'm gonna take a little walk ok?"

"Ok."

She walks out and I sit up. I put my sliders on too. Maybe I should go out too. It'd be good to get some fresh air. Yeah.

I walk out of the pokecentre and see Serena.

"Hey ash."

"Hey"

"Um, I need to tell you something..."

"What is it?"

"Well I- I- like you."

"Huh?"

Is this it? The moment I've been waiting for? For like, forever?!

"Not just as a friend. More than that. I- I like, like you ash."

I smile,"I like you too Serena"

She blushes and looks at the floor. I place my hand on her face and lean in. She looks shocked but I know she likes it. We kiss. For what it feels like forever.

"ASH?!"

We pull away and look towards a tall ginger girl.
