After the storm was over at late night, me and Darko decided to take a walk in Hollow Woods. Elizabeth was not very happy with this thought but Darko managed to convince her after promising to look after me. I was grateful for that cause without his presence I wouldn't have taken a pace onto the forest path.
Our steps were rasping against the fallen leaves when we were paddling through the woods towards the abandoned summerhouse. We sat down on the grass next to the ruins and looked at each other. Then I came up with an idea.
"Darko?"
"Yes?"
"Do you know how to play truth or dare?"
He gave me a confused look which I took as a no.
"Okay so. The idea is", I crawled closer to him. "I will ask you to choose between truth or a dare. If you choose the truth, I'm allowed to ask you a question about anything and you will have to answer it honestly. If you choose the dare, I will give you a command that you have to put in action. Get it?"
"I don't know if this is clever, Eden..."
"Stop chickening."
"I'm not chickening."
"You are! Otherwise you would have concurred!"
"Okay then", Darko snarled and stroke his hair behind. "Bring it on."
I smiled victoriously and stared deep in Darko's eyes, trying to sound as dramatic as possible.
"Truuuuuuuth or daaaaare?"
"I'm pretty certain that truth would be less harmful on my ego." I loved it when he was so confident. I started to think on a good juicy question.
"How many times did you have sex with Katja?" Okay, that was way too far. Darko coughed and started to get awkward. He stuttered something before he finally managed to answer me.
"Eight."
"EIGHT?!"
"Come on, it was back then..."
"Jeez..." I whispered and shook my head. It was a mistake to ask about it. "Anyway let's move on."
Darko bent over right in front of me and gazed at me. I stared back and smirked at him. A little competition started to take shape between us.
"Truth or dare, Eden?"
"Dare." I wanted to show him that I was braver than him. But as soon as I saw the expression on Darko's face, I regretted it.
"I dare you to..." he squinted at the surroundings around us. Then he pointed at one of the fir trees in front of us and smiled. "I dare you to climb on that tree and bring me one of its branches up there." I gulped and stared at the top of the tree against the night sky. "Or are you scared?"
"Of course I'm not!" I snapped and stood up. "I was born to climb on trees." I ran down the hill and stopped by the fir tree. It looked much bigger from the ground level. Darko was leaning against the trunk and sneered at me. I pulled myself together and grabbed on one of the lowest branches. I will show him.
After a few minutes of mad grunting I finally pulled myself up. I looked down at Darko and stuck my tongue out at him.
"See? I'm a natural!" I laughed and looked up at the branch I was looking for. Only a few more inches and I'd have it. I looked down and started to feel dizzy. Don't be a baby, I told myself. Carefully I stepped on the edge of the branch I was on and craned at the one I wanted to get. Suddenly the wet and slippery thick gave up underneath my feet and left me hanging on the branch I was holding with my hands. I screamed as I heard it snap and drop me down. I closed my eyes and prepared for my death but instead I landed on something soft. Slowly I opened my eyes and saw Darko's worried face in front of me.
"Are you alright?" He whispered. My heart was still racing and I had to hold my chest for a while to get any words said.
"I think so."
"This game is too dangerous for you."
He let me down and picked a few leaves off my hair. I took the branch from the ground and waved it in the air.
"But I made it!" I screamed and smacked Darko's ass with the branch.
"HEY!" He yelled and took a step back. "Missy, I saved your life once again and this is how you're thanking me?!"
"Saved?! You almost KILLED me with that dare!" I hissed and smacked him again. Darko had no choice but to run from me and my deathly weapon. I laughed and started chasing him all around the woods while he begged for mercy.

It was so dark that I didn't realise he had stopped in a short distance. I smashed right on him and we both fell down in the mud.
"Auch..." I heard Darko's quiet wail coming under me. I felt throbbing pain on my nose and carefully touched it with my hand. It was bleeding slightly. I stood off Darko and glared at him.
"You should have warned you were stopping!" My voice started to chipmunk as I squeezed my nose trying to stop the blood rushing out.
"I heard something", he murmured and wiped mud off his sleeve.
"Obviously you did cause I was right behind you."
"Shhhh!" Darko hissed and quickly pulled me in the bushes with him. "Someone's coming." Now I heard it too.
"... don't worry, master Katja. Once Garnok gets in touch with that village, none of the druids will be saved!"
"Katja..." Darko whispered and sneaked closer. I pulled him back immediately.
"Are you crazy?"
"I want to know what they're talking about."
"They're going to see you, idiot."
"Not in this darkness." Darko pulled himself away and glared at me. I gave up and nestled deeper into the leaves while listening attentively.
"... yeah, right. Once Darko sees how overpowered we are, he will run back to us like a scared puppy for sure."
"Are you sure this is the way to the village, master?" That must be one of the henchmen...
"Yes. Once we find that fallen over cottage, we are closer than you can imagine."
"Darko", I whispered trying to catch his attention. The same instant I spotted his figure in the night as he crawled next to me. He had heard the same thing.
"Eden, you have to run to Valedale and warn everyone. I'll keep them distracted."
"But..."
"There's no time, Eden."
Darko grabbed my shoulders and gave me a quick kiss on forehead. He smiled and took my hand.
"I will be back."
Then he disappeared. I didn't want to let him down, and started running towards Valedale. I was still exhausted from my previous run but the strong waves of adrenaline kept me going. The druids were in danger.
