I knew even before we turned into the gate that this had to be where we were going. It was dark and spooky: where else would a werewolf and a witch who had kidnapped me take me in the middle of the night. Knowing I was going to regret this, I tapped Lolonda on the shoulder and pointed out the window. Looking as though she had forgotten I was even there she looked out and then back at me. Realising that we wouldn't get very far this way, I pointed to my mouth and waited. Seeing what I meant she spoke.
"I will release your voice, if you swear that you will refrain from shouting as it is most annoying."
Figuring what the hell had I left to loose, I nodded. Closing her eyes she mumbled again and then looked back at me expectantly. Coughing to see if anything would come out, I was relieved to hear my voice come out even if it was a little squeaky. Looking over at Jean Luke who hadn't moved the entire time we were in the car, I once more pointed out the window.
"Where exactly are we? Is this where Jean Luke was buried or is it the pack grounds? How far outside the city are we, because we've been driving for ages."
Before she could answer Luke spoke up.
"My family owns the grounds you see, they run from the gate to the graveyard where my father rested, the house and the woodland run off the main drive. The graveyard is out behind the main house cordoned off. We should be at the house in a couple of minutes so don't worry; you shouldn't be here much longer."
I was starting to get a headache and I just knew that I was about to end up in another messed-up situation. As the car turned a corner I could see what must be the main house come into view. It was quite impressive, the main house itself was huge and that didn't even take into account the two wings stretching out on both sides. As we got closer I could see that it had to be at least a couple of hundred years old though it looked as if each new generation had built onto it one after the other so that it got bigger over time. Considering how big the house was I hoped like Hades the entire family wasn't in residence.
As the car pulled up to the main door I considered jumping out and making a run for it but something stopped me. Glancing over at Lolonda I realised she was staring intently at the house and mumbling under her breath. I was about to ask her what spell she was working now when Luke unlocked the doors and got out. Before I could follow him, Lolonda reached over and put her hand on my arm stopping me.
"It is best that we wait for the pack master to allow you entrance. It is not a simple thing bringing a mortal onto pack grounds. As well as the matter of Jean Luke, there are things that must be discussed before you are safe to roam freely."
Getting annoyed again I gestured to Jean Luke.
"Now see here, I helped you get a dead body that is up and around out of the morgue without permission. I helped you erase his existence and have in my opinion been a co-operative prisoner. Now you tell me that there is a chance that those... people would harm me if I got out of the car. It's too much; this entire shift has been a nightmare. I have gone along with everything you've thrown at me but this, this is the last straw."
Pushing open the door I stepped out then slammed it shut. Hearing the noise Luke turned and froze when he saw me. By that point I was past caring. Walking round the car I opened Jean Luke's door and helped him out. Once he was out I saw that Lolonda had followed and was standing staring at the house. Slamming the door I started shouting to Luke as I made my way to the driver's side door.
"I don't care anymore, that's it. You've got Jean Luke back and I'm probably fired by now for abandoning the morgue. All's well that ends well NOT! I'm going home and just going to pretend that none of you people even exist. If I'm very lucky I'll have a nervous breakdown and never have to remember any of this night. Now if you would excuse me I won't say it was nice to meet you."
