With Tracy moving house she would need to catch the bus to school leaving only me Vicky and Wendy to walk together to school on our own.
The first week was fine both girls came and got me from my house and we went to school, since my house was the one closest to school. We all met up with the others and had some fun times but at end of the first week Wendy was ill leaving just me and Vicky to walk together with a chav to chat just us two.
We found out we had a lot in common and were amazed at how long we both lived near each other and walked the same walkways without so much as crossing paths not even once. We even walk our dogs on the same field behind my house yet fate seemed to not want to bring us together till the time was right. Till we were teenagers. Her 14 me not long turned 15. We spent the day side by side when we were not in class. This got Tracy and Kylie suspicious of whether we were going out or not.
Still at this time we weren’t. But later that day i walked Vicky home as i usually would and set of back to mine. I had enough time to get changed from my uniform to my casual clothes and time to ear my tea. Not long after washing up what i had used and going upstairs my mother shouts me "Robert! There’s someone at the door for you" as i walked past my mum she whispered "that’s a pretty girl who is she?" I smiled and left it unanswered for now.
I go outside and see it is Vicky, I’m surprised but in a nice way we talk about random stuff until i ask her about what her hair was hiding. This time she opens up and tells me, when she was younger she had to have an operation which left the nerve to the eye severely damaged and she could no longer see out of it. She was blind in her right eye and when the eye lid became relaxed due to lack of use it started to hang down lower than the other side so much so that it was almost always closed.
Instead of letting people stare when she was younger she grew her hair and covered her eye with it, in doing so the hair to her eyebrow would stop growing meaning she would always have to cover her right side of her face.
I brush her hair behind her ear as she looks down to her toes. I say to her " I’m not afraid and i don’t think you look weird or anything, besides it personality what counts and i love yours"
Vicky gets shocked and embarrassed (it really was such a cute sight) she looks me in the eye and wants to ask a question, but she can’t quite get it out. Seeing exactly what this question was that she wanted to ask all over her face i decided to ask it instead.
"Is there anyone at school you fancy then?" I said to her. She smiles with embarrassment looking to the floor again. She eventually replied "yes you" but i genially didn’t hear her the first time and asked "what was that?" She said it again louder and in my face "YES YOU" i smiled then she asked the same question. Was there anyone at school i fancied.
"Yes only one.... you" i said and before i could blink after finishing my answer Vicky had kissed me full on the lips and again and again and again. When she stopped she was really embarrassed and said she had to go. We said good bye then as she crossed the road she said "i love you" she said it a few times and all i said was "ok bye" then my life would change forever she would shout back "you’re supposed to say it back!!!" And i made a decision i would never regret.
On the 17th of September 2002 at 7:30 pm,
I shouted back "I LOVE YOU TOO" the first of many times i would say this to her.
