The sound of gunfire was heard soon after.
"Come on," Glenn said.
We made our way closer. The walkers were thinning out quickly.
"Shit," I said running my hands over my hair.
"The walkers are flooding in through the east wall. That means the west wall will be the first to clear up. That's how we get in," he said.
I nodded and the both of us started making our way over. Enid was not following.
"Enid?" I said.
"Just because the tower's down doesn't mean that...Listen, people are still alive in there," Glenn said.
"This is how it happens. And it always happens," she said.
"That doesn't mean we lose hope, Enid. We're still breathing and so are they," I said.
"Our friends are in there, people who care about you...my pregnant wife. You just wanna run away, be afraid, and forget about this? Just go," he said.
"Glenn," I started.
"But that's how you lose people. Even after their gone," he finished.
He took off but I stayed behind with Enid.
"Look, I know you think that there's no point. I've been where you are. Trust me, I have. But unfortunately, when you have people who care about you and when you care about them, the thought of never seeing those people again kills you. I don't want you to go Enid but that's not up to me. I can't force you to come with us. All I ask is that you think about what I'm telling you," I said.
I went ahead and followed the direction Glenn had gone. He hadn't gone far.
"You really weren't thinking of leaving her were you?" I asked when I got to him.
"No. She just needed to hear what I had to say," he said.
"I'm sure she did," I said.
It didn't take long for Enid to show up. Glenn led the way.
"Glad you made this decision," I said to her.
She looked up at me and nodded. We made our way to a tree close to the walls. We climbed it in order to see what was going on.
"Maggie," I said when I caught sight of her trapped at the watch point near the front gate.
There were so many walkers. I had never seen so many in one place.
"Come on. We have to get her off of there. There's an opening I saw on our way over here," I said, climbing back down.
"Amelia, wait," Glenn called.
"What?" I asked him.
"We need guns," he said.
"Firing them is just gonna draw more," I said.
"We need something to protect ourselves if we do end up firing them," he retorted.
"Okay. I have two in my backpack. I packed them last night just in case. Look in the big pocket and you'll find them," I said.
I turned around and had Glenn open the pocket.
"Great. Now we need to get somewhere to make a plan," he said.
"The church. It's nearby come on," I said.
They followed me to the opening I had mentioned earlier.
"Come on," I whispered once we'd reached it.
The walkers were spread out. We quickly crossed the street and went into the church.
