"Give us a minute," Rick said getting up and asking us to do the same.
We all went to the porch.
"What do you guys think?" he asked.
"I think we should check it out. If his place has food, we need to take that chance. And I know that you don't take chances anymore but this one is one worth taking," I said.
"The kids are hungry. Let's just check it out," Daryl backed me up.
Everyone else nodded.
"All right. So let's get ready then," Rick said.
Everyone went back inside and we got our things together. Abraham parked the RV right next to our house so that we could pack the things we needed easily.
"You coming with?" Daryl asked while he fixed up the engine of the RV.
"You want me to?" I retorted.
"Hell yeah. Our run didn't pan out the way we wanted. This will make up for it," he said.
"Well since you put it that way, I'm in," I said kissing his cheek.
He went back to making sure the engine was good.
"Here," Denise said coming up and handing the both of us something in a plastic bag.
"Homemade oat cakes. Complex carbohydrates, omega-3s," she said.
"Nah, I'm good," he said.
"Babe. Come on. Thanks, Denise," I said reaching out and taking mine.
It sounded better than it looked.
"We're gonna make a pit stop. I'll pick up something then," he continued.
"Like rabies?" Denise said.
I looked away because that comeback was hilarious. Daryl looked at me then at her.
"Is this 'cause I tried to get you that stuff?" he asked.
"Yeah. And you remind me of someone I used to know," she said.
Daryl wiped the oil from his hands and looked at her.
"Well...hope it tastes better than it looks. 'Cause it looks like shit," he said taking the oat cake and stuffing it into his pocket.
"Shit's still better than roadkill. Okay, maybe...just eat it," she said.
"I'll make sure he does. Even if I have to force it down," I said.
He scoffed.
"Thanks, Amelia," Denise said.
"Thanks for these, Denise," I said.
She nodded and took off. I went over to Carl.
"Let me help with that," I said reaching for the tank of gasoline he had filled up.
"It's cool. I got it," he said.
"You sure?" I asked.
"Yeah," he said.
Rick then started making his way to both of us with Judith.
"You sure?" Carl asked him.
"No. But if he's telling the truth, this could be the start of everything," he replied.
"Which is why we should at least check it out," I said.
We all looked over at Michonne who was making her way down the steps with Jesus.
