The crunchy and salty flavour of Frito Lay was the best in the world. Plain salty. No added flavour.
Perfect.
At least for her.
Meha Patel was late for college. Yet again. She just couldn't bring herself to wake up early morning and drive to her class. Waking up early morning was too much effort. Ask anyone. Today she had a very important presentation and she was like... fifty percent ready with it. She could only imagine what Mr. Matthews' reaction would be if he hears her presentation. He would he flabbergasted and not to forget the immediate phone call he would make to her father.
She would be screwed.
Having professors as your family friend is the most devastating situation you can be in. It's like there are hired detectives around you in your institution. When Meha was in school she had like the entire staff knowing her. Her grandfather's generation had attended that school, followed by her dad and his siblings and then herself and her siblings. She and her siblings would think twice or rather thrice before doing something out of the school's norms. It was incorporated into them.
And now in college too. Seriously speaking, Meha had never thought that she would get yet another known professor here. Now she knew why her family was so behind her into getting Finance as her major. They had two reasons (a) they had Mr. Matthews here to spy on her and (b) she was the eldest of all her siblings-blood and cousins included-to fall behind her elders into the family business. The worst part was Meha didn't even know what their damn family business was.
In other words, she was so bloody screwed!
Parking her car in her designated spot, she drew up her laptop from the passenger seat. The screen lit up with the wallpaper of her and her golden Labrador-Max. She loved dogs. According to her that was the only animal that was suitable to be kept as a pet. Rest other animals were just a waste of space-sorry to say. To very specific she liked Labradors. They were cute, fluffy and so adorable. Max was a gift from her maternal grandparents on her eighteenth birthday. It had been a surprise package for her when the party was going on in her house. She was forever grateful to her grandparents for gifting her Max.
Meha had a new email. She quickly browsed through them just briefly reading the party invitation that the Association of Sexy Singles a.k.a ASS had sent. Yes the abbreviation sounded a little off beat for a club filled with singles from the university desperately trying to get hooked, but that was how it was. Who was Meha to question anything? The weekend was here which meant the entire Penn State would be in the mood of booze, cigarettes and the night long dance. Meha smiled. The weekend was what she loved. The parties... and the members of the opposite sex.
Sweet.
And suddenly her eyes fell on the clock on her laptop screen. 10:30 am, it read. "Oh shit!" She had exactly thirty minutes to be ready with her presentation and she had so much to edit and write and draw and... "Shit! Shit! Shit!" Meha wore her black Versace leather jacket-her lucky jacket-, grabbed her things and quickly exited the parking lot.
She was nearly running when she entered the Uni building. Her mother's "I told you you'll get late for college," was constantly repeating in her head. Mother's were always right. Damn! I got to listen to her more. She glanced at her watch. 10:40 am. Twenty more minutes for her to be ready. She knew Mr. Matthews would make her present first in the class.
Meha was just outside the door when she heard the loud yet distinct voice of her professor. Taking baby steps and tip toeing to not pull attention towards her, Meha looked from behind the wall. Her professor stood in front of a young fellow. She couldn't see his face but she did notice the royal blue tracksuit that every athlete of Penn State had. His brown sling bag was haphazardly dangling from his shoulder and also took noticed of his untied shoelaces.
