This situation that Piyali found herself in right now must be the most god awful one. Her entire life she had seen her parents bickering and claiming to divorce if the other doesn't apologize. It's like what the entire world had been expecting was finally happening.

Piyali watched as her parents signed the divorce papers one by one. Her grandmother cried besides her and silently held her baby brother-Piyush's, hand. Her brother was oblivious to what was happening. He just knew that he was going on a vacation with his mother and his sister to the States. He didn't know that the vacation was a really long one.

After the court proceedings Piyali's father hugged her tightly and told her that she would always be his little Princess.

Fake.

Piyali rolled her eyes at her father's words. Rahul DasGupta was a liar at his best. He was the kind of man who could lie looking you in the eye. He would convince you of the most unbelievable of the lies that he could come up with-kind of like he could compel you. Supernatural, isn't it? Piyali hugged her father back-unwillingly. She couldn't bring herself to hate the man though. Despite all of his flaws and lies that he had fed her, he was still her father. Believe it or not she still loved it-even though on a minor scale.

Soon enough it was time for them to leave the court. Father would not return home with them. In alimony, Piyali's mother had asked for a bulk of her father's property. Their house in States was hers to keep and the apartment in Mumbai was theirs too. She had secured almost fifty percent of father's property.

Smart.

Parineeta DasGupta was smart. She had formulated this alimony papers from the very first day of her marriage. She hadn't thought she'll ever have to use it. But she was prepared. The day she had caught her husband with his co-worker at the mall, Parineeta was firm on getting the most out of the divorce. Piyali knew her mother was a cruel woman when she had to. In retrospect, Piyali knew her mother did love the man. She had after all adjusted with the man's habits and flaws, mistakes and drawbacks for all these years. She had two kids with the man. How could she not love him?

Piyush was still clueless. That poor soul was so oblivious to everything. He was not clasping Piyali's hand. Grandma had left with her son-unable to meet eye t eye with her daughter in law. Grandma was the most affected out of everyone. She had witnessed her family break and she was alone to go through this. Grandpa had passed away a couple of years ago when Piyali's uncle had left the family home with his family. He was lucky he hadn't had to go through the pain of a separating family.

The ride from the court to the apartment was a silent one. They were leaving for the States on the same night. Their things were already packed. The few itty bitty things that Piyali had to pack were kept organized on her bed. She had already bid her friends goodbye the day before. She didn't actually have many people to say goodbye to. Piyali was an introvert to some extent. She would prefer a reading a book or watching a movie at home rather than going out or travelling. She hated travelling. She found it to be boring and time consuming and not to mention the hassles that tagged along with it.

She planned on changing her habits. Or at least modify them a little bit. She viewed this new venture into an unknown country as an opportunity to do what she loves. Piyali knew she would have to get to know people there, would have to interact or will be forever alone and forgotten like a wallflower. She was expecting to get an experience of a lifetime and to forget what she was leaving behind.
