(Y/n)'s Point of View

The soft hum of the healing pod comes through my ears. Then I feel the cool swish of it sliding open, and instantly falling into a pair of familiar arms. Hunk's, and he's so happy that he's practically in tears. Actually, he was in tears.

"Oh my god (Y/n). Why would you-? Shit. I-I thought you were fucking dead." He sobs while hugging me tighter. It felt a little too tight, as I could feel a sharp pain at my side and I let out a grunt. "Oh shit sorry, it's just- never do that again!" Hunk says as he sits me down gently. It must've been bad, if Hunk was cursing, because he never curses.

Coran was still looking at some charts on the healing pod. "Hmm.." he mumbles. "What is it Coran?" Hunk asks. He turns to us and says "It seems (Y/n) has gotten out much earlier than anticipated, which is why I can see her wound isn't nearly close to being fully healed. There must be something wrong with the pod, I'll get to work on it. But for now, you must rest, since any small movement or strain can reopen your wound."

"A-Alright." I groan as I try to get up. Luckily Hunk hoists me up to my feet. That's when suddenly I remember, where are the others?

Where's Shiro?

"Nghh.. where, where are they?" I ask painfully holding my side. Coran and Hunk give eachother a certain glance, both of their brows furrowing in a strange manner as Hunk turns to me and places his hand on my back. "(Y/n)... they uh, they haven't come back yet. W-We got cut off communication with both groups. Allura doesn't want me going back after what happened to you and-"

I managed to get out of Hunk's pull and weakly limped to the door. "I-ugh, I'm going to g-go find them." I said with little determination. Coran stepped foward and placed his hand on my shoulder. "No (Y/n), you need to rest so you can-" I nudged Coran's hand off my shoulder and try to turn around to argue back, but I felt a strong and vicious pain to my side.

"Aghh!" I cry out as I fell onto the hard floor. My mind started swirling. Pain was all I felt. I could barely hear their muffled voices.

"She reopened her wound!"
"But the healing pods aren't active!"
"Coran she's bleeding! Shit, shit, shit, a lot!"

Breathing heavily I started to doze off, until that last thing I heard was Allura running in and happily saying,

"They're back! They made it! They- oh no."

Shiro's Point of View

We didn't find anything important, it must have been a glitch or technical error that emitted a distress beacon. Since we went in pairs, Lance and I traveled in the Blue Lion. I was wondering how the others were doing, for some reason the coms were down. I'm sure nothing bad happened.

"You good Shiro?" asks Lance as he lands back in the hangar and breaks through my train of thought. We hop out of the lion and start heading towards the door. "Just want to see if the others found anything." I say stepping through the entrance. We head out into the main corridor until we come across Allura running and seeming to be frantically searching for something.

She glances over and her expression is relief but at the same time frightened. She runs over out of breath before looking at me straight in the eyes. "Shiro.." she huffs still trying to regain her breath. "I-It's (Y/n), I-I thought she was fine but-"

I didn't even let her finish, I sprinted past her and headed as fast as I could to the infirmary. With Lance and Allura quickly following behind.

Only one thing came into mind which made me quicken my pace even faster.

(Y/n).

------

I rush in through door and immediately burst into the scene. Coran yelling incoherent words and Hunk kneeling on the floor holding someone in a panicked manner. There were rags soaked in blood surrounding them until I realized,

it was (Y/n).

I kneeled beside Hunk and Coran, who were looking at me concernedly. But to me, everything went numb, I couldn't focus on anything else except (Y/n). Somehow she was handed to me, her almost lifeless body was only accompanied by her slow and ragged breaths.

"Fuck." was the only thing I was able to mutter out.

My eyes gazed down to her waist, which was slightly parted open and gushing with blood excessively. I pressed my hands to her side trying to apply any sort of pressure, it was probably hurting her more, but I had to do something, because she was just laying there on the floor almost motionless. Whatever I was doing, it had to be something I could do that was making this better.

My vision started to falter, and tears began to spill off my cheeks and onto (Y/n)'s stomach. I couldn't take this, it was too fucking much. She got shot on a simple mission and got injured. Again. Over and over she always ends up injured. It happened too much and I'm so done with it.

With one hand remaining with pressure on her wound, my other hand went and gripped tightly around her limp hand. I felt like I should say something, but nothing could come out. Something to reassure everyone, reassure her, and reassure me, but all that kept coming out was a string of foul language.

Before I know it, my surroundings seem to come back again and I can hear everyone more clearly. Panicking, they're all trying to scramble around and help in any sort of way, I didn't even realize that Keith and Pidge had arrived.

"The pods are back on! Get her inside now!" yells Allura.

In one swift motion, I pick (Y/n) up and place her in the pod. The pod then seals shut and for a moment we're all standing there in silence. Only the whirring sounds of the healing pod could be heard before I turn around and face Hunk.

"What happened?" I ask sternly. Everyone besides Hunk, Coran and Allura faced towards us since they wanted to know as much as I did. Hunk seemed to look down at the floor when he began to speak. "I-It was a trap, the distress beacon was nothing but a farce. (Y/n) and I were searching around the area until we were attacked by galra sentries." Hunk stops and crosses his arms before he looks up at us and continues.

"For a moment w-we were fine, we managed to wipe out all the sentries in sight but there was this, this half-dead sentry that I didn't even see and then-" he shudders and covers his eyes up with one palm. "She jumped in between us so the blast would hit her instead of me. Sh-She saved my life."

Hunk was full on crying now, and I felt like I was the one who got shot, especially in the chest. She hasn't even known us this long and she was willing to risk her life for Hunk. She didn't deserve this, she really didn't. I look up to see Pidge and Lance trying to comfort and calm Hunk down.

There was a small beep emitted from the pod. We all turned to look at it while both Allura and Coran pulled up a chart. The tension was unbearable until Allura sighed in relief and faced us. "She'll be out of this pod in only four vargas, but she will be extremely sore when she comes out."

"So four hours right?" Pidge asks quietly. "Yes." Allura answers simply.

I stare off into the pod containing her sleeping body and let out a sigh.

I'll wait for her. I always will.
