Gaku stared at the point of Takumi’s gun for a while then closed his eyes tightly and broke into a fit of laughter, laying on the ground. Takumi, outraged, pressed his knee down on Gaku’s chest and pressed his gun against his forehead leaving a large mark. “What do you plan to accomplish by killing all these innocent people??” Takumi yelled but Gaku only kept laughing. Takumi kept pressing the gun on his forehead, breathing hard in his rage and blood started trickling down from the place his gun was pressed on.

Kyoko knelt down beside him and just like that; hit him right in the temple with her gun. For a moment Gaku seemed to have lost consciousness and laid there. Takumi moved off him and they all, including the caged people, looked at him quietly.

“Ugh!” Gaku grunted after a while and rubbed his temple with his right palm, holding his gunshot wound with the other and sat up staring at them. “You didn’t have to do that, you know?! I am not a bad person. Killing, isn’t pleasurable for me either.” He said.

“You didn’t even wince when your comrades died!”

“They didn’t die in vain. I was going to avenge them. They died trying to protect, not just this country but the whole humankind. I am quite sure they died happily.”

“Piece of shit!” Takumi bellowed and kicked Gaku in the chest again.

Gaku fell back down and coughed a bit of blood out then sat back up again. “Killing the infected guarantees, the safety of non-infected, you see. If we can wipe out every single infected person, we can have peace again.”

“Yeah? What about the rest of the people who dies? The infected—as you call them—aren’t the only people who will turn. The people with bites, sickness, are not the only people who are turning.” Aimi started. “Everyone turns. Every single human-being living on this forsaken planet are infected! And you can’t kill them by slitting their throats. You have to destroy their brains it’s the only way. So even if you kill all these people right here, it won’t stop whatever this plague is.”

“Well, true I guess. But—”

“But? But what?” Takumi asked, glaring at him.

“Now! Now! You don’t have to look at me like that. What I am trying to say is that; if we kill all these infected people, we can assure the safety of our remaining, non-infected people. There won’t be Tangoes running around the city, eating everyone. There won’t be panic, there will not be a reason people to run or hide. And if someone is infected, then the answer is simple—” Gaku said, and placed his index finger on his temple, gesturing a gun. “Shoot them, in the head.” He smirked.

“You’re a murderer.” Mitsu said who was holding a barely conscious Adrian. “Eiji, take him to the police station and lock him up!”

Eiji, hearing his order, grabbed Gaku and pulled him onto his feet. “I guess I’ll meet you all in the Minister’s office.” And then dragged him away.

“Oh you have a Office here in Akita too?” Aimi asked, looking curiously at Mitsu who grunted proudly.

“UGH!!!” Sugai bellowed in pain, throwing up blood onto the floor and falling back down onto his knees.

“Daddy!!” “Mr. Sugai!!” he heard muffled voices cry out. He was sweating and his vision was failing. The pain in his shoulder was sharp and it was only getting sharper as he felt something slowly spread all over his innards, starting from the wound and then, his vision completely blacked out.

A faint sliver of light. Blurry vision and muffled voices; Sugai heard as he opened his eyes and grunted. His lips were dry and he could feel his hot breath. “Daddy!” Someone yelled and whoever it was, laid down on his torso. “Careful Humiya, he’s sick.” Someone else called after her. He then looked around; white walls, a white ceiling and the room was full of beds and each bed was supporting a person, some of the chairs beside the beds were occupied and the others weren’t. He saw Humiya sobbing on his chest and Kyoko standing behind her. Takeo, Takumi and Katsumi were there too and Adrian was asleep on  bed next to his.
