The silence the road made Lex's death even more painful. However, the sun was rising from the horizon and into the morning sky. There weren't any cars on the road, as all of them were probably home. I wished we could have been too. That's the bad side of running away from all that you know. William and Alexa were sleeping in the back seat when I looked back at them and realized how peaceful they were. However, I felt a little sorry for them, as that peace would soon get disrupted. I had to hurry and get to a safer location, and maybe that address would be the place. I activated the GPS and entered the address. When we got there, the whole place was barren and worn. I woke up Alexa and William and told them to follow me. "I wonder who lives here?" Alexa wondered aloud. "I believe his name is Alex Cassero. He... I think he is the one who created the creature." I could see the shock on both of their faces. "Don't worry, I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose, because what good would come out of it, right?" I reassured them. "I suppose you're right, Sean" Alexa spoke softly. Her voice was shy and calm as if nothing had happened. We finally made it to the porch, but the creaky floorboards didn't make the situation better. William tripped, Alexa fell in a hole and I crashed into a wall while snickering at both of them. If anyone was watching, we certainly looked like idiots to them. When we made it to the front door, there was no doorbell, so we knocked. A strange, grumpy voice came from inside, telling us "Go away!!!", but since we were hard-headed people, we did not do such a thing. However, a young boy, not much older than us, walked through the door and spoke in a delicate manner. "Hello. I'm very sorry about my grandpa. He gets grumpy from time to time. However, I must ask, how did you get here?" To my surprise, he was well dressed and had great manners. "Oh, uh here." I took the note from my pocket and he was paralyzed, probably because he did not expect his sins to bite back at him in this manner. "This... Thing. Whatever it is, it's after us and we don't know how to get rid of it." I told him. "And... you think I know how to, right? He questioned. He told us to come in and take a seat. To be honest, I never expected the house to be that clean on the inside. "So how did you find the note?" He started.

"well, me and William over here"-he waved-" were in my attic when we found it next to a broken testing tube."

"Yeah, I remember that."

"So what happened?"

"Well you see, I was in my lab working on a new medicine to cure cancer. You surely must know by now that if cancer cells get damaged, they will regenerate. I was focusing on that specific fact, and then it hit me. If I could somehow harness that force, then I could recombine the DNA of the cells to cure themselves when they use that ability. Just cut off the limb that has it and then it will regenerate after a couple of days. Next, I went to a hospital to find someone with cancer and extract their cells, to experiment. However, when I did find someone he was at the point of death, I quickly and successfully completed the process. After that, I got the corpse and put it in a testing tube so it wouldn't rot away. When I finally finished the process, I noticed that the specimen had a black spot on his back, but I ignored it thinking it was a minor side effect or allergic reaction, and simply injected it with a vaccine to stop the reaction. The next day, I noticed the black spots were spreading. They were covering his arm and leg, and he was alive. Again.

"Wait... you said that he had cancer before, right?"

"Yeah."

"If you cured him of cancer, then couldn't you kill him by giving implanting more cancer cells?"

"You are right, but he and his body are technically still dead. What prevents him from dying is the organs that are regenerating, meaning the body is very fragile.

"Yeah, but I swung at it with my bat, and it went right through."

"That means the spots are consuming him bit by bit. Now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't be calling it a him. It's not human anymore."

"Ok, then we have a plan," William said.

"Wait-we can finally get rid of it?" Alexa asked.

" Yeah! We can finally-" A crash was heard coming from the kitchen and echoed around the room. We all ran to the kitchen, Alex leading the way. Once we got there, everything was pitch black, but there was something lying dead on the floor. "Oh god... I'm going to look for the light switch." Alex quivered. "You guys stay put." "Wait, let me come with you!" William requested. "NO!!!" Alex demanded. This time, we did as we were told, watching as another dark figure close to the wall began reaching out for something, and.., falling flat. The lights came on. The 2 bodies that were on the floor were Alex and his grandpa, who was probably his guardian. "Wait, if they are lying on the floor." Alexa squeaked. "Then who turned on the lights?" William continued. I felt a rush of goosebumps all over my cold, nearly motionless body as we looked back. It was standing there, looking at us with its soulless eyes and smile of pure malevolence. Alex was right. There's no trace of a human being in it. We ran as fast as we could and halted to a stop as we reached a dead end. "W-well guys. It's official. We're goners." I said, trembling with terror. The others chuckled as the creature came closer ."We? Says who?" They both said in unison. They turned around facing me now. A good look and I realized: they weren't who they claimed to be. To make matters worse, their faces melted off and then... Darkness. Out of nowhere, I found myself lying down on a hospital bed, with Alexa besides me, wearing a worried expression. She gasped. "Finally! You are awake!" She shouted with tears in her eyes. "Alexa? What happened? Where's William?" I asked. "Don't worry. He's coming with a couple of others." She replied. "Now, I need to go, I'm going to tell your parents that you are awake. They are really worried."

She left and a miracle happened. William, Lex, and Alex walked In the room. I almost cried as they came running towards me. "Sean!!" they shouted in unison. "you finally woke up!" Alex spoke. "Man, you've been out cold for so long!" Lex followed. "How long?" I asked. "About a week," William answered. "What happened?" I questioned. "Don't you remember? You got hit by a car." William replied.

"Hey, want me to tell your parents that you are awake?" Alex suggested.

"No thanks. Alexa already headed out to tell them."

"Who's Alexa?"

"Haha. Very funny, Alex."

"I'm dead serious."

"Wait... Didn't you see a girl walking out of here?"

"Nope, you must have been hallucinating."

I ran out of the bed and to the hallway. When I looked over at the end of it, I saw that haunting word:

"Beware"
