"Yeah. Who is this?" "Hey, Lex. It's me, Sean." Then William yelled from beside me "AND WILLIAM!" I heard Lex chuckle from the other side of the line, when all of a sudden, something smashed into the car from behind. Alexa screeched. I stomped on the pedal and busted through the front gate. "What the hell was that!?" William exclaimed. "I don't know, but I'm not staying here to find out!" I responded. As we were speeding through the empty streets, I forgot about Lex. "HEY!!What's happening!?" As we got to the highway, I slowed down and picked up the phone. "Sorry. We uh, hit a bump. Say, can we crash over at your place?" I asked. "Sure, but once you get here, you have to explain ." "Ok, but it's a long story," I warned him.
Once we got there, Lex was waiting for us inside. He opened the gateway to his house and waved us to go inside. We parked our car and went over to say hi. "Hey, Sean! Long time no see." He said. "Yeah. It's good to see you again." I replied. We entered his house, and he told me to sit. I looked over and he said, "Now, explain". I sighed, After a good 10 minutes or so, he understood everything. "So that... Think... Does it have a name?" He asked. "I don't think so, but it's referred to by the number 17."
"Oh wait... if it has a number, could there be more like it?"
In reality, I never really thought about it. If there were others, then we would be in deep trouble.
"Maybe. Maybe not."
"So how do you think you can stop it?"
"Well, I can find the person that created it, and maybe they have a clue on how it's built."
"Ok... First thing in the morning, I'll help you look for them."
"Thanks, Lex."
"What For?"
"Well, letting us crash here, and understanding the situation we're in."
"Don't worry about it. It's my pleasure."
"Well, it's time to get some rest."
"Alright, but are you sure it's a good idea leaving William and Alexa all alone?"
"...He's my friend, he wouldn't-"
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!"
"Oh. In that case, they'll be fine. Besides, you know how freaking tough William can be."
"Yeah, you're right."
As he and the others went to sleep, I tried my best not to think about what had happened.
It was around 1:00 in the morning, and I still couldn't sleep. I decided to give up on it, and grabbed a piece of paper from my pocket.
I checked the note that the mystery person left behind in my attic, and checked the back of it, to see if I missed anything. I don't know what I was exactly looking for; maybe a name, or maybe an address. Time passed, and at 1:30, I still wasn't able to find a clue on how to kill this thing, that is, if there was even a way to do so. Out of nowhere, I heard a door open and close. It was Lex coming downstairs to fix himself a late night snack.
"Hey what are you doing up?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
"Oh, I'm just getting a snack."
He came over and sat next to me, then he looked at the note.
"Hmm? What's that?"
"Oh, it's a note that I found in my attic, next to a broken test tube."
"Oh, well that's not creepy at all... What are you looking for?"
"Some type of clue as to what that thing is, and how to kill it."
"Oh. If you can't find one, you know you could shine a light to reveal invisible ink right?"
"Pfff... Wait. That's not a bad idea! Do you have that kind of light?"
"who wouldn't?"
"Normal people."
"...just take it."
He handed me a small flashlight, and I pointed the light at the paper. The bright light revealed a message stating a name and an address. Everything seemed to be going well until the clock struck 3:00...
A creak could be heard, and the front door was opened.
I looked outside, but there was nobody around... "Please tell me that
was the air." I pleaded to Lex.
"There's no way it could have been it, the door was locked". As soon as he said that, a chill came up my spine, like a ferocious blizzard.
We raced upstairs as fast as we could to warn the others. However, when we opened the door, something grabbed us and pulled us in.
William and Alexa covered our mouths and shut the door tight.
"We heard that too." He said.
"How?" Lex responded.
It seemed they did because my backpack was opened and William had my gun out. We needed a plan, and fast.
"I say we split up and find it," I suggested.
"Really!?" Lex cried out.
"Guys, if we don't do something soon then-" Alexa stopped.
Outside of the door, footsteps were coming closer and closer, until... They stopped. We looked behind us and saw a window. I signaled everyone to head towards it. In the middle of the room, two sorry looking wooden doors sprung open and the creature grabbed Lex and pulled him back towards it. William tried to save him, but the creature's grip was stronger than William's.
"Crap."
Lex tried to fight it and screamed out.
"RUN!! SAVE YOURSELVES!"
We had to go, or Lex's sacrifice would be in vain. We opened the window without hesitation, and we escaped the room running as fast as humanly possible. As we ran, we could hear Lex scream as he was likely experiencing horror and torture beyond imagination. Alexa teared up from the fact that we left our good friend behind. Once we got in the car, I stomped on the pedal and raced for the streets once we were out of the creature's vicinity, we relaxed a little. However, Alexa was still crying over the loss of our dear friend. "So... What now?" William asked.
"Now?... Now, we kill this thing."
