I'm able to recall a time that I was heading home in my company's pick-up truck, when all of a sudden, I got a phone call. I remember wondering who would call at such an hour, but I just picked it up anyway. When I did, what I heard was more than disturbing. On the other side of the line, static, but it wasn't the static that creeped me out. It was what I heard apart from it. I heard voices, not like any I've ever heard before. It was weird, like if it wasn't even from a person. I thought it was some sort of prank, so I hung up like it was nothing. I turned up the radio and looked for my favorite radio station, and again, what I heard was horrifying. I heard the same static, and behind that static I heard two words in repetition: "Beware".
After that, I turned down my radio and stepped on the gas. When I arrived at my place, it was nothing like how I left it. It was a mess, with all of the furniture torn apart and turned upside down. My own room was a mess, like if someone just ransacked it. I thought it was just a simple burglary. Who knew I could be so wrong...
When I went to sleep, I left my house as it was, and decided to go to school in the morning. I'm in college, and it's my fourth year here. I hope to make the most out of it. When I woke up from my sleep, everything was neatly packed and fixed! At that moment, I was shocked, but relieved all the same. I stepped into my bathroom to take my morning shower, and looked at myself in the mirror. After everything that has happened, it's still me. When I stepped into my bathtub, I set the water to hot and turned it on. It felt nice to forget about the feeling of being watched from last night, but
that feeling soon came back. Out of nowhere, the water suddenly became cold, and the hot mist that once surrounded me was gone. Now all I had was the feeling of being watched. I stepped outside of the bathtub and cleared up the misty mirror. Where I previously saw myself, there was a shadow just standing there and staring me down, as if it was testing me. It wore a lifeless smile and two soul-shattering eyes. That's when the feeling of being watched came back, but stronger than ever. I rubbed my eyes. I couldn't believe it, I didn't want to believe it, but...
...Something was after me ....
Surprisingly, I made it to school on time. I saw my best friend, whom I have a crush on, waving at me. "Hey, Sean," she shouted happily as she started to walk toward me.. I glanced at her and waved back. "How's it going Alexa?" I called out. "Good. How about you, I mean with your parents gone for the week?" She said as she walked over. Alexa and I were both in the same grade and had all periods together, so we knew each other pretty well. "Pretty good. Hey, maybe you could come over sometime." I suggested. "Sometime. Well, let's head to class. We don't want to be late." she responded. We both ran up the stairs and entered our first period. When we sat, we looked around the class and she asked, "Where is everyone?" We looked outside the classroom and into the hallway. The hallway turned dark, and continued to turn darker, as a strange, smiling figure emerged from the shadows in the corner of our room. "W-What the hell is that?!?" She said, trembling with terror. I had only one thing to say... "Run". While we were fleeing for our lives, I glanced back to see if it was following us... And it surely was, with as much speed as us. I looked back once again, and it was in another corner. I looked in front of us to locate a possible escape, and I found a single door. Alexa lunged for the door to open it, and we took off at what seemed like the speed of light. As it was closing, I could see the creature in front of the window, looking fairly content, yet staring us down with the familiar, soulless smile. After the door closed, Alexa and I pushed against it with all our might to prevent the creature from escaping. After a while, we decided to stop, go home, and get some rest. The path to our houses is the same, except that there's a fork in the road before the houses enter our sight. Anyways, at the fork, she finally cracked out a slightly nervous "H-Hey can I come over?" To be honest, I was a bit surprised at the moment, but I didn't want to be rude so I just replied "Yeah, sure." As if I didn't get enough surprises, when I said that, she kissed me on the cheek and gave me a warm smile. Of course, I was just standing there, smiling like an idiot. For the first time in my life, we both went the same way at the fork, and the first time she sees my house, of course it's trashed again.
I told her to go upstairs and wait for me while I cleaned up. My house has 3 floors, the first floor consisting of the bathroom, the kitchen and living room. The second floor contains the bedrooms and another bathroom. The third one is the attic, which isn't really a floor, but it's the only place that I'm not allowed to go into unless It's an emergency. Anyways, when I finished with the cleaning, I went upstairs to check on Alexa. As I walked upstairs I heard her scream, suddenly that walk became a mad dash to my door. As I bust into the room, I saw that creature clutching her and trying to shut her up. I nabbed the baseball bat that I used as a kid playing baseball, and slugged at it with all I had in me. To my surprise, it phased right through it, but I looks like the swing still rattled it. After that, it just leaped out the window like a lunatic and vanished into the dimly lit streets...
