Fun on the Track

A little later, I was passing by the track, and remembered that Doug did that as one of his sports. Making my way to the stands, I could see only Eric and three of his friends were already there, so I sat away from them on the bottom bench.

When I saw him, I yelled, “Go Doug!”

He gave me a cocky thumbs up, and my heart sank... still on the HFS- Shit!

But when he got the baton, I couldn’t help but laugh- he was running like a retard and then he just threw it over the line when he wasn’t even half way. Then he picked it up again and pretended it was his dick and the coach grabbed it and then he fell over and he was out.

“You!” shouted the coach, pointing at me.

I froze, pointing a finger at myself in question.

“Yeah, you! This your brother?”

I nodded, and he told me to get him up.

I agreed, and made my way out of the stands and to the track.

I really did try to pull him up but he was a dead weight and I kept dropping him. Then...

“Need some help?” came a drawl.

I nodded not even looking up, but trying again to grab my unconscious brother.

I managed to sling one of his arms around my shoulders and Eric slung the other round his.

“If we take him to those benches over there since it’s practically time for home,” he said.

I nodded, smiling slightly.

“Saw you in the stands,” he said.

I smiled, before murmuring, “How surprising seeing as the coach bellowed at me to come pick this jackass up.”

Eric laughed, “Hey, that’s one of the only times you’ve talked to me,” he said.

I nodded.

“You talk so much with your brothers then shut up when anyone else comes along. You shy?”

I nodded... that’s a lie, I just don’t really wanna talk to him... I’m usually quite friendly.

“That’s okay,” he said, stopping and looking around Doug to look at me, “It’s okay to be shy- it makes people want to know more about you... I want to know more about you.”

God this kid moves fast! I blushed, before nodding, regretting it, but pulling out my new high-school-student-mobile-number from my pocket. I handed it to him.

“Any time, you want to know anything,” I whispered timidly, plonking Doug down on the bench we had now reached.

“I gotta go find Molly,” Eric said, and I nodded, before waving and running off to find Brad.... who I later found in a swimming pool...

After I had woken Brad up, I took him over to the bench where Doug was now awake, before hurrying back to class to grab my camera stand.

Coming back, I saw Eric congratulating Doug, “Dude what you did out there, sabotaging the track meet, that was awesome. Organised sporting events are so fascist- they make me sick!”

“That’s just what I do,” Doug muttered, making me giggle, and making everyone else realise I was there.

“See you around man, alright?” Eric said.

“Yeah, see ya,” replied Doug.

“Erm... I’ll see you tomorrow, right, Katelyn?” Eric asked.

“Well yeah I guess... I wasn’t planning on being ill tomorrow so yeah... you probably will... but I won’t guarantee anything,” I joked, making him laugh.

“Bye,” he winked at me before he and his friends walked away.

“Bye!” declared Brad, sarcastically.

“Aw, I’ll say bye to you if you want,” I said.

“That would mean a lot,” Brad pretended to tear up, making me laugh.

“I don’t get this school,” he stated, seriously, picking up his rucksack and starting the walk to the car park.

“That was awesome,” Doug said, mainly to himself, at the fact that the popular kids liked him.

I laughed, happily linking my arm through his as we followed a slightly moody Brad to the car.
