Half an hour later, on the dot, I saw three bicycles pull up outside the window. I scampered over the the heavy front door and pulled it open just as Zack raised his hand to knock.
"Knock, knock," he joked, grinning.
I laughed, stepping aside to let the three of them inside.
Brad strolled out of the living room and the four of them did their shouty greeting thing. I shook my head and rolled my eyes playfully as I smiled at them.
After their shouts had died down and they were calm again, I told the boys to take their helmets off and to put them in the kitchen. Following me, the boys commented on the Aztec decor as much as Brad did when he first came to the house.
I gestured for them to plonk their helmets on the side next to an array of snacks which all the boys, including Brad, gaped at.
"Take your pick boys but remember, we're sharing everything," I warned, grandly gesturing to the food.
As they went about picking what they wanted, I headed over to the kitchen island where five empty plastic bottles stood.
"Drinks?" I asked over my shoulder.
They all answered coke, and I set about filling each bottle half up with the drink. Then, making my way to the freezer, I grabbed some crushed ice and filled each bottle to the top with that before saking them around a bit to form slushies. Then I set about putting everything in my handbag and a brown messenger bag.
"Why are we doing this again?" asked Delroy as he handed me a pack of sweets.
"I don't believe in cinema food prices so I smuggle in my own,"I answered before asking, "And who wants the honour of carrying the messenger bag?"
Zack kindly offered and, as tey headed out in the direction of their bikes at the front of the house, I cleared my throat.
"Where do you boys think you're going?" I asked sweetly and when, they all looked confused, I added, "My car's in the garage."
I led the dumbfounded males to the garage door but, before I opened it, I turned to them, smiling innocently.
"But touch my baby and I'll kill each and every one of you very slowly and very painfully," I warned.
Saying that, I pressed the button and the garage door slowly opened.
Light flooded in and revealed my pride and joy; my sky blue 1957 Ford Fairlane Convertible 500 Skyliner (see external link) with its crystal white hood.
Each boy gasped and I smirked, proud.
"Get in, fellas."
Twenty minutes later, we pulled up outisde the cinema, traipsing in and engaging in a five-minute debate about what film to see. In the end, we chose a comedy that had gotten many good reviews (according to Roman, anyway).
We went in and I took my seat between Brad and Zack and we distributed everything before laughing our heads off for the next two hours.
