“You punched a little gay black kid in the face,” said the principal, staring at Greg.

“Mr. Dadier, I’m sorry- I have apologised to the guy, but he had already reported it.”

“Did he accept your apology Mr. McQuaid?”

“Yes.”

“Okay. But I am one little gay black kid being punched in the face away from a nervous breakdown!” exclaimed the principal.

Then he sighed, “So you will be Katelyn, yes?” He had turned to me.

“Yes, sir,” I replied, shyly.

“You’re taking photography?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Well here’s your schedule- your classes will be in Room 73.”

He handed me my schedule.

“Erm, I’m sorry, I don’t know where that is.”

He smiled kindly at me.

“Don’t worry Eric Molson is in your class, he writes the school paper. He’ll be in the main news room, which is just next door, probably checking the bulletin board. Go quickly, don’t worry, you’ll see your brothers at lunch.”

I nodded, reaching the door before turning around to the principal again.

“Next door which way?”

He laughed; “Right.”

“Thank you,” I smiled, leaving the office.

Going next door, there were only a few people, and only one boy... eco-guy. Well, he looks like the only person in here who may be called Eric... and he’s looking at a bulletin board.

I sidled over to him and tapped his shoulder softly.

He turned around, “Oh! It’s you! What’s up?”

“You’re Eric Molson?” I asked, quietly.

“Yeah, and you are?”

“Katelyn. Katelyn McQuaid,” I answered, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

“Okay. So what’s up, Katelyn?”

“Erm, I’m in photography class, and the principal told me to come in here to find you because you’re in that class and so you may take me to... erm.... Room 73, seeing as I don’t know my way around very well.”

I took a deep breath since saying all that in just one, and he chuckled at me.

“Err... that’s cool- it’s a great class- yeah I am in it, and sure I’ll take you. I’m finished in here anyway,” he said, frowning as he tried to remember everything I had said.

“Thank you,” I murmured, making way to allow him past.

As we walked out into the hallway, I saw Greg and Morton, they seemed to be arguing about something, but I would have to find out what at lunch.

Greg looked over to me and smiled, but Eric turned me round by my arm to face him; “It’s this way, sweetie,” he said.

I nodded, and waved bye to Greg, who was presently scowling at an oblivious Eric.
